I'd say that it isn't necessarily about the pick up lines or "witty banter", it's more about a sense of humour and different people have a different sense of humour. It's basically if you're a guy and you can make a woman laugh consistently, there's a good chance she'll like you. That's the way it has been for me and I'm someone who thinks everything is okay to joke about and irl I practically have no filter. In fact, if I'm interested in someone, I will make messed up jokes on purpose to test if they're even compatible with me.

Welcome to MO. I'd say desktop is better. You're not too old. Personally I'd say this site is better for making friends than as a dating site due to it being a niche field and worldwide. I personally don't find many people that live near me. With that said, I do like what the site offers and hope to see it grow.
