Religious rants

It is simple women who werent married most likely were virgins. Even non God believers respected married women. Remember the kings of egypt giving the wives back?

Times back then were different than now. Remember in the bible how they slayed those men who raped the sister? I forgot the exact names, they defiled her and as a result got massacred. So it wasnt necessarily saying they should rape.

“If there is a girl who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man finds her in the city and lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city and you shall stone them to death; the girl, because she did not cry out in the city, and the man, because he has violated his neighbor’s wife. Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.” (Deut 22:23-24)

I honestly want to thank you all, speaking on this thread has been a very good learning experience. I feel God has been prepping me up to speak. Doing some self reflection and looking back to moments in my life i feel he has been leading me to this moment. Arguing with you all on here has honestly gave me perspective on how to speak to people irl when they hit me with hard questions like these. The answer to them is always there you just gotta do some searching. I appreciate you all! I might actually look into doing ministry stuff. I really need a starting point to get out there. I need to read the bible more so i definitely have some more work to do before that point. But i feel i need to step up more, now more than ever.

not sure if the thanks are in like, general, or only for the people who supported the religious statements, I think the division was something like 80/20, most of us being on the science side of things after all, so it was always an stable stance

@swadian no its to everyone in general. I havent seen anyone in here actually defend the religious stance except myself, some were kind of in the middle but still against it. Everyone spoke on science and proving religion false. I meant by it being a good learning experience because im sure there will come a time where im faced with the same sort of hard hitting questions irl. Its knowing how to respond to it in sort of a debate setting that allows proficiency in your craft. Irl you dont get much time to prove your point. It also helps the fact that i do independent research in my free time, in the car on the way to work, at home while playing games or cooking, during my lunches. Thats why i can argue stuff seemingly on my own.

I didn't see people trying to prove religion wrong. Maybe they had issues with Christianity, but most here, have some sort of personal belief if you read through things. Don't use words like "EVERYONE" unless it truly was everyone. "Some" is the better word. Want good conversations? Get involved with a bible study group. I mean no insult with that, it just is going to be the best way to study. That and, if I were you, I'd DEFINITELY look into college and religious studies. You're going to need that(It'd definitely make things a little easier for you.)if you want to be a missionary, anyways.

I mean, I'm a religious person myself, yet that doesn't means I will go around trying to fight unwinnable scenarios, I understand the point of religion in modern society and to some extent believe in a very small fraction of events that happened, for most of the rest I stick to the facts

We all have different opinions on topics, the problem starts when we feel our opinion is worth more than what anyone else can say. That's how we see the world as it is.
