"What do you think of this world"?

Just from reading the title of the topic and nothing else thats been said. Ill give my 2p. This world in no uncertain terms, is fucked. now excuse my language but theres no other word to describe it. Everyone just needs to get along, it really is that simple, just so impossible at the same time! While I have respect for anyone choosing to put their faith in a deity of their choosing, can people not put faith in each other instead? (This is by no means an attack against anyones faith or religion, just my opinion. On a personal note, I have no faith, yet I dont believe science can explain everything either, at least not yet.) Religion is and always will be the biggest factor slowing human progression down because of its restricted way of thinking. Blindly accepting the way things are as a 'Gods' will (I say 'Gods' to summarise all faiths, not one in particualar) is very detrimental to the world and everything on it. To remove it (an impossibility without several generations of non-teaching) would free people to work on more important matters such as preserving the planet so it can be self-sustainable (anyone that thinks it is now is quite simply a fool...) Think of a world where people dont squabble and fight over religion but instead put their heads together to work towards a better future for everyone? Sounds nice doesnt it? Nobody ever wanting for anything but not getting too much more than they need. I would really like to cite Gene Roddenberrys vision of the future through Star Trek. Yes I understand thats very geeky to some people and a little communist to others (crap I sad the C word, hope the CIA dont come for me....-_-) but the guy had a point. People exist in the Star Trek universe to better themselves and humanity and no-one lives beyond their means. To explore the unknown (and occasionally fight it when it turns out to be pretty bad) and to promote peace wherever possible.

As I have stated in other topics, Im not a pacifist, but I dont like violence. Again, people just need to get along. There is always a way for peace to prevail. It doesnt matter what their gender, race, sexual orientation or whatever is, as long as very simple and universal moral codes can be followed then it doesnt matter who someone is or what their beliefs are or whatever.

I agree that the world is a pretty bad place. People are selfish and refuse to see things from anyone else's point of view most of the time. They would rather blindly believe that they are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong than to think about the big picture and see that they aren't quite as justified as they thought. While I don't agree with SimonSan about religion being a bad thing (I think it is inherently good), I will agree that people misuse it, misquote it, and otherwise use it to justify things that their religion was never intended to support (or in many cases says to turn away from). I believe that most every religion preaches love, or at least just treatment of others, regardless of what they believe or how they act. Whether or not one is religious, actions based on either of those are far from a bad thing. I believe that a lot of the problems faced today are because people selfishly refuse to admit that they may be wrong and thus don't actually look at things from other viewpoints. The accepted culture where I live runs rampant with this problem, which is most of why I don't bother with it much. As SimonSan said, people just need to get along.

The world is what we make of it. I'm not going to banter about what philosophy I follow or shove morals that you've heard countless times down your throat but it does a lot of good to keep your chin up and not stand over those around you. We live in a world with of billions of people and I'm not going to be put down in the hands of a few.

I don't really care one way or the other. I wasn't given a choice to live here or elsewhere (if there is an elsewhere), and the horrible things people do aren't MY fault. Sure, people can point their fingers at me and say my nonchalant attitude is one of the reasons that our world is a dump, but what are they going to do about it? They can't make me change my attitude, that's something only I can do, and for now I'm pretty content. I guess they could kill me, if they wanted. But what would that accomplish? What I suppose I'm trying to say is that I don't think people should worry about what others do. Living one life is hard enough, why bother with others?

I know this world serves a purpose. I know there are worlds beyond this one. I know there is truth and I know there is love. I know there is one life and it is on going even after changing form. I know we should treat each other with grace. I know we will fall short. I know there is one greater than all. I know that He is in we that have faith. I know Christ and I know he knows me. It's this knowledge that transforms what one's perception of "This World" is. This world is a training ground for the soul. Nothing we do in this world is without purpose. But what purpose it serves comes by way of understanding who's Will purposed it. The consequences of good or ill bear their fruits, so one can understand the knowledge they were given and its truth. That truth is the way of life. He is that life and we learn to imitate that life through a proxy world of trials and errors until the day comes when we graduate into the Real World like with any other school. God is the Father who bore children that grew in a nursery known as Eden. Then they grew up and took their first steps towards spiritual adulthood. But to get there they needed to be taught what it means to know a thing. To put that knowledge into practice takes experience. You can't be given experience by its nature. You got to live it. You got to practice it. You got to learn it from one who has been there since the beginning and can teach it. That's where Jesus Christ comes in. He teaches us what the Father knows will help us grow in love. That love is truth and is itself the essence of life. The Holy Spirit is the manifestation of true life and that's the real world we live in. Glory be to Him who gives all things life in truth and love. For this is His World!

I think the world has beauty and ugliness. I see the good in the world and I want to practice spreading that regardless.

I use to hate it and wanted to do something about it. Until I was showed how small, arrogant, childish, selfish, imperfect, and privileged I am. Now I just mind my business and watch and pray to Jesus instead of trying to be batman. JUSTICE FOR GOTHAM!

Should I then shed a tear of remorse? Nah, bruh. Shits wack... I'm sad and old... What'll the next twelve bring and will I too remain as I have.lol So sayeth the ancient one.

Gabe did grave dig an interesting philosophical topic. I believe the world is driven by selfishness and power struggles. We live in a system that rewards the few at the expense of the many. Those who are innately good are forced to live under those who are driven and selfish. However once you die, everything you are, no matter how much of an impact you make in the world, will crumple into dust and mean nothing. I live like like I play my video games. Go for some stat maxing, optimize life as much as I can to tighten the grind wheel, enjoy my life. I used to think that good deeds would have some kind of merit in the afterlife, but after talking to spirits, I'm not so sure. I've talked to spirits who were kind of assholes, I've heard spirits sounding like children crying out that it's cold. I've even had a spirit in a dream 10 years go that said she would come for me when I die. Who knows what this is all for, or what's in store for us when we die. All I know is we should strengthen our spirits while we are alive and not let anybody control you seeking out your own happiness. In the next 5 years my hair will start turning grey. I still feel like I did when I was 27. Yeah it sucks that my body is turning older, but my spirit is getting stronger with every year that passes. When I die, I'm going to be ready for it.
