As someone who has been on both sides of this topic, I would say all you can do is to just continue being supportive. Also be sure to not suggest/do anything unrealistic. Sadly there are just some things in life that cannot be solved with help and only time will tell how things will move forward. Be sure that she never gives up hope to cross to the light on the other side of this long dark tunnel she is currently walking through. It may seem never ending but as long as she pushes forward all will be well. I realize this may sound like the worst advice ever, but trust me when I say I have been there and there really isn't much that can be done.

Routine. Do what you like, or what you want to do, and do it over and over again. Force yourself to do so until it becomes the "Normal". Stay healthy, exercise. Surprisingly it gives you more energy in the long run and determination. Sometimes you just need to try something new that you think you may of always liked but never had the time for. That's what I do when in a slump. Planning out on what I want to do? Think what makes you happy, what you like doing, what you Want to do. Then do a bit research on said subject, How other's have become successful at that specific thing, and the requirements you'll need, whether it be a certain level of schooling, athleticism, practice, ect. Then, the above. Routine. Humans are funny things. We like to be lazy. But the only way to get what we want is to force it. And the only way to be truly happy, is to be happy with the life you have. You never work a day in your life if you love your work after all.

The "folk beliefs" are because Taoism converges with and is compatible with folk religion. I'm not sure which Húxiān I actually have worshipped lol, I found a shrine to this deity when I was in a town east of Harbin and I had some beautiful things happen there. Yes people from the north can understand my accent okayish. People from Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong etc have a lot of trouble though.
