Scared about Anime Expo...

taylor1016
Okay! Hi..I'm going to Anime Expo and it's going to be my first BIG con. I really don't have any anime friends, who would attend with me. I will be 17 on July 17th. So you can imagine my slight nervousness in going by myself. If you're going, and don't mind protecting me (Er, well letting me tag along..) I would so appreciate it! Some helpful tips , if you have some. Is there really creepy perverts there? Should I be concerned? My cosplay shows my stomach so the seal Can be seen l. (I'm cosplaying as naruko, which is a female naruto.) I'm just....scared. I sound like a little child. Sorry....

I'm going to my first con this year to so I know the feeling lol, so I can't really give any good tips but you definitely don't sound like a little child . The important thing is to be careful and of course have fun.

I've been going to Anime Expo since I was a kid (9 year veteran whoot!). There are only a few instances throughout the years that I can think of that ever made me nervous. The worst thing that has ever happened to me is that I've been hit on when wearing somewhat revealing costumes. There are so many people to meet and mingle with. Just have fun. P.S. Day 3 and 4 is when all the deals happen. Go to the late night anime screenings in the upstairs theaters. Convention food is expensive. Bring a LOT of cash, the ATM machines tend to crash or run out of money sometimes. Bring a pair of flip flops or roll up flats (walking in high heels for 5 hours straight hurts...I speak from experience).

Have faith in the people. They generally look out for each other when they see someone having a hard time due to anything. :) My cousin and I might be able to help ease your loneliness, if only just for a while, but I will have to consult with him about this matter. Trust me, the good outweighs the bad.

There are creepy perverts at every convention, small or big, just like there are creepy perverts anywhere else. That's no reason to be scared though. Just like anywhere else, people like that are in the minority. Just remember that at a convention, all the rules for real life still apply. If you want someone to stop, tell them stop or no. If they don't stop, leave or raise a fuss. Most people who go to conventions are decent people, and if you let if be known that someone is trying to make you do something you don't want to do, someone will get con security. Have fun at your first "big" con, and be safe!
