This is where Nintendo can't be defended. The biggest argument I have heard is that old games cost this much or more. That is true, Street Fighter 2 for SNES cost $70 at release. There was good reason for this. Cartridges were expensive. It would cost roughly $35 to manufacture this game. The $35 left over was split 4 ways between the retailer, distributor, developer and the licensing fees.
Then CDs and later DVDs came out and the price of manufacturing a game dropped to around $5. At that point for the first and only time the price of new games dropped to $50. Everybody won, the consumer pays less and there is $10 more for everyone involved in getting the game to the player.
Then we get the digital download garbage on consoles and they charge as much as a physical copy and the price jumps to $60 per new game. Now we have got rid of the retailer and the distributor. So the game developers and companies get to keep all that money. While servers and electricity are required, it would amount to pennies per game sold.
Overall, there is no reason for games to cost $80 and $90. There was an argument that this was to counter the pirating issue, well that is only going to make the issue so much worse as nobody is going to pay that for a game. With all that said, it is Nintendo's turn to be the dumbass of this generation of consoles.

Isn't $70 in 1992 worth $159 today if adjusted for inflation?

Being a zoomer I've not personally been through the worst of it, but for my oldest brother, who grew up on the NES and SNES, getting games was a very rare, special and EXPENSIVE occurrence. It was exclusively for Christmas, birthdays (if lucky) or if you saved up months and months of allowance.
Growing up myself I remember getting new games in our household still being somewhat of a rare thing, although not as expensive. However in my teen years up until now I have myself been able to buy new games often and for only a minor hit to my wallet (especially indie games), it's to the point where a common problem is that people have too MANY games with a growing backlog
Not defending the price hike. But gaming is extremely cheap compared to the pre-2000s and the fact that it is so cheap is a miracle considering development times and team sizes

Been playing Bleach Rebirth of Souls which for me is both simultaneously fun as well as annoying!

On the one hand I feel the battles move slower than mud on a hot summer day. Specific characters have lengthy monologues with their special attacks that stop being fun to listen to when you're hit by it for the umpteenth time.
Likewise the timer tends to run out before anyone can kill the other in standard matches. Most of the defeats and wins have been won by time default.
Otherwise the fights do emphasize spectacle and style which are appreciated. The music selection is very rich!
Lastly I will say combat can be rigid. However one may still be entertained if they are willing to put up with Aizen killing his opponents by reading them a bed time story before tucking them into their respective coffins with a Hado #90 security blanket.

If I didn't have bad memorization skills I'd probably be able to quote everyone's dialogue in this game word for word with how repetitive special cinematic attacks become.
