Coronavirus. Your thoughts? [Serious and Non-Serious]

corona virus measures are worse than corona virus itself. hear me out: yes, corona virus measures will stop corona virus from killing people. but i think the overall quality of life will go down so severely that corona virus killing people is probably better than all of these people losing their well-deserved jobs, their hard worked-on companies, possibly homes, families and the list goes on. by cancelling daily life you create so many new big problems that the deaths from corona virus are negligible. not to mention most of the lives corona takes aren't working-class people, but senile people. sorry to say or hurt your feelings, but this is just the way things are.

In any case, the measures are not only to stop the virus of killing people but also to avoid collapsing the health care system if too many people get infected in the same area. Then more people would get affected as a side effect of the collapse. Just look at Ecuador. Well, I'm not an expert anyways, but I doubt it's as simple as "just a few people would die, it would be fine".

If containment failed at this point, they expect more than 2.2 million dead in the US alone directly from Corona. Then you have to figure all the other people that would die, because they can't get access to life saving procedures due to hospitals being overrun. New York has already had to issue an order to declare people suffering cardiac arrest dead, and not transport them to a health facility, if their heart cannot be restarted by first responders on the spot. Yes, containment was the right choice.

What's weird is that there is a decline in Emergency Room activity. The mid-level providers, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, are trying to shift to telemedicine work in the meantime.

I can tell you this, I no longer have a summer job now. Got the call 5 hours ago, so now I got to start all over again. Sadly no one is hiring in my area at the moment :(

@Johannes i totally agree with you there. especially with the last two lines. also with what @onizuka said. the time will come where the doctors will have to make a choice between who to save and who not. and i find that highly entertaining. can you imagine having worked ur whole life, just so the doctors push u off healthcare cuz theres someone younger with a weak immune system at the same risk of dying? or can you imagine being mid thirty and having a weak immune system and ure about to die cuz of corona but the docs say some random old fart needs more help right now and they don't have room for you? pretty fun, isn't it. ah the suffering~

It's not just old people. Earlier in the week they reported the casualties were 70% men to 30% women. Other age groups are also dying, just not as many as the elderly. Yesterday was the first infant mortality. Then there's the possible Wuhan death toll cover up.
