should you bring a present on a first date?

Nah no gifts on the first date. Like Muffin above me said, she might start expecting it after each date. I'd say save it for later on.

I personally don't like it when my date brings me a gift. I dated a guy who gave me a gift everyday which then I was like "Oh no. I got to get him a gift too everyday." That was during H.S and well I was a broke High schooler. Recently I went on a date with someone and he was angry at himself that he didn't bring me roses. Which I told him "It's okay I don't need roses, thank you regardless." Idk I had guys offer to pay for my food too but my mother told me not to let them pay. We should pay separately and I kinda agree with that to a certain point. Okay I'm getting off topic sorry. Point is no gifts on the first date it's better that way. The person shouldn't expect a gift on the first date.

Maybe if you have known them for a while Edit: Then again the only times I've dated people are times where they've already been head over heels for me before a first date was even possible so my advice or input probably isn't the best suited

A small gift is probably fine like chocolate or a rose or something! If its something bigger like a necklace or something it might just scare them off.

I recommended giving them no gifts, hearts of chocolate, or a bouquet of flowers...
