Is Love Meaningless?

psychosho
Honestly I don't expect anyone to pay this post any mind but this has bothered me for some time and I kind of wanted to see others take on the subject. I ask this because I've been in five relationships, all of which ended abruptly and without true reason. Its because of this that I feel as if my brain has begun registering love as pain and fear, the fear being that it will end like the others have and that pain or heartbreak will once again resurface. I’m curious to see others take on this subject.

Absolutely everything is meaningless. One day the Universe will die, taking all life with it. So from a scientific view point life and it's ability to create new life (and all that entails) is pointless. Why find love and make babies if your genetic code won't survive into the future? Why go to work and build up your society if our race is doomed to die out anyway? None of it has meaning, just try to have fun.

Depends on your belief system. If Life is truly meaningless without a spiritual essence to it. Then yes. Everything in the universe only matters as much as you let to yourself. So in turn, without bias, everything will end and in turn be worthless. Now, I personally don't think like that because it'd honestly just be too depressing. You have to find someone who will work through your relationship problems. Instead of just leaving it to die. You also need to be this type of person. Love can be the most beautiful, Amazing experience. Where you are always happy, always thinking about the next time you can see their eyes, touch their skin, feel them breath against your chest. It can make you feel like you are superman, invincible. But it can also make you feel worse than you ever have. Make you feel like everything is worthless, like you're worthless, More frustrated, more alone than anything else. So what controls whether love is meaningful? The person you share that love with.

Everything has the value that YOU put into it. Love is one of those things that make humanity. Not everyone has it, but I can guarantee most want it. Its the feeling of closeness, trust, selflessness and sacrifice. Love is hard to find between two people, even if one truly has love for another. People get tripped up on the whole "selfless" thing. I mean, you want the adoration, you want the good feels, you want to feel needed. Is that love? No. Love is giving, unquestioning and never ceasing, regardless of the other. But, maybe that's all to grand. So, there's romantic love and that becomes a sort of game. You look at the other for what they mean to you, what they can give you and they you. Love is a thing that exists, but it's not some sort of magical unicorn fart like Hollywood and media would have you believe. The love that can be found between a couple is built, not just found over night.

Bliss as much as that sounds nice and all. You do know the most likely death, and outcome of the universe(Ignoring any spiritual/religious thinking.) Is heat death, and entropy. Whenever a planet or star explodes/implodes, it does spread it's remains out... but that's it. It's remains. That energy the star once had will never be a tenth that it was. Sure a massive star that goes supernova can make a few smaller stars with it's remains. But that's because of the ridiculous output they overall. The end of universe is thought to be around hundreds of trillions of years old(And I'm downsizing that number to a ridiculous degree), when the last stars die, (Red Dwarfs). After that, Slowly all that there will be is black holes. And even they will fade in time. The Universe will be empty and cold, With no 'life' to speak of. While time will technically not stop. There's nothing... truly moving anymore. That's if you only go by science. Which is also why Nihilism is so popular lately. We don't know if there are other universes let alone a multiverse, and while I personally like to believe it. It's like my belief in God. There is no scientific proof. And it's just as likely to not exist as to exist. I mean sure we 'may' be able to find a way to stop that halting of the universe. But that'll be IF we survive as a species for that long.(we still have to get out of our quadrant of the galaxy before we can't be basically wiped out by ONE singular wrong cosmic catastrophe at a large scale. Let alone smaller ones.) And even then, Making something from nothing, Which in the end very well may be what we'll be doing with that type of need. Could truly be impossible. TLDR: The Universe as we know it. Is far from eternal, or limitless. It's expanding, yes. But that's stretching, Not getting more matter. And stars Use up a ridiculous amount more than they ever put out.

With a person I guess it is. People help each other and we know there’s something amazing out there, sorta like a god. That’s sorta what I’ve always thought. Love with a person isn’t real love but it’s a good thing obviously. We are social beings. There’s people that life in the middle of nowhere but they feel connected though. If I had to chose to have a crappy life but have a girlfriend and have a good life and be alone I’d pick be alone.
