These sites are so pointless

For some people perhaps it is pointless. There do tend to be two types of people on the site - those who post in the forums, and those who keep to private messaging. There are quite a few, usually the older group, who have a set of friends gained through sending messages and they tend to stick to that. The forum ones tend to communicate a lot through the forums, and so it seems like there are only a few members on the site. There's also the issue that some people send friend requests to a lot of people at once, and though they may be accepted they don't follow it up with a message. I talk to about three of the people on my friend list (not counting Sherflow since we live together) and most of the others on my list sent a request, but that was it. Recycled threads is another thing getting more common. Since I first joined I've regularly seen three or four different variations on existing threads crop up a few months apart. The only stand alone thread that has been going since before I joined is 'The last one to post here wins' thread.
