I'm looking for people who like books, especially fiction books. What draws you to them? What do you enjoy about them, as opposed to manga or television?

i like the escape, reading really does take you to a new world, making you a new person, or watching events
its just not the same as tv or manga, when you read words with no pictures it lets your imagination work to its full potential, its nice to really just escape into your mind as it entails the stories the author provides
sitting outside on a deck, taking in the scent of the outside, sitting back in a chair and reading a good book have been some of my favorite memories

I like books of all categories. My reasoning for fiction specifically is it allows a escape from the rigid rules we apply to the real world. To me a good fiction book establishes its rules well and gets you curious about how the world works along with the relation to characters in it.
Being fully taken in by what im reading. Understanding the motivation and reasoning of different characters actions is fulfilling as well.
One good example of this a bit aged but the book dune.
Also books are a great way to increase cognitive performance in multiple areas. Recalling things in general and questioning said information or just thinking about it helps.
One tip I find very useful not just for books with the purpose of studying is writing things down that you think are significant or adding notes at key points. That method is called active recall.

Reading books is entertaining especially if you like the book. The books, those without any pictures, meaning you have to do your imagination at its fullest. It's not the same as watching TV.

I get enthralled in them. I loose track of time and they help me as an artist focus on imagery.

Though I don't read as many as I should; books to me are a really nice way to lose myself in a world constructed purely through words, it lets the imagination run wild and think up all kinds of impossible things that I can indulge myself in. Games, manga, anime and what-not can totally do that as well but when a narrative and universe has no visual representation then it allows me to create it purely in my head alone as the reader. I truly love that and I like to study the different writing styles and to understand the psychology behind the styles and how they draw me in as the reader for reference in my own writing. So yeah books are pretty cool, I should read more often honestly.

Reading is a good time waste. I read books for hours even till nights. It's like Netflix just better. I like the depiction of the environments, characters and situations.
