What if I only read comic books, do I by default become smarter?

I like reading books, especially text books. I draw pleasure from acquiring knowledge and escaping into someone's universe

I like books for the lore and character progression and development. But mostly for lore/culture/etc. Anything with interesting cultures and races and variety is awesome. Puts a cool spin on things rather than the typical, "Oh here's another apocalyptic wasteland story about a bunch of Americans-coded teenagers." Fantasy races in particular. (Dwarves are love, dwarves are life.) Wish I had the patience to read LOTR and the Harry Potter books. I love the setting and lore and etc of both movie series, but can't get into the writing style of the authors for some reason. It's a shame. ='(

I've run out of manga or anime and need to refer to the source material, i'm procrastinating, I have a good reason for reading whatever it is.
