I hate New Years. I like that I get off work, that part is nice. But I've always hated this holiday. When I was a kid, it was always hearing horror stories about people driving drunk, getting into accidents and killing themselves and/or others... so that made me a shut in to the point that if there were plans, I wanted to just stay home. Then, as you get older, you realize what that holiday really is and how others view it. It's the day you look back on the rest of the year and you add up the pros and the cons. What were your achievements, your failures, and then you compare this year to all other years and see how it measures up. Then you might get sad or nostalgic thinking about something missing from this year. It doesn't matter how many or how big the gains are sometimes. That's why people drink on this holiday. Sure, some are celebrating, but others are caught in that web of nostalgia. I used to just do movie marathons and cook on this holiday. I didn't really plan for that this year.

People drink because it's an expectation of an excuse that EVERY holiday holds. This is a day like all others, wondering if my bills will yet again get paid, if I(We, really.) can keep my (our) kids alive/healthy for another year and if I will succeed, break even or be miserable on some measure as I try to put on a facade of no worries for most to see. This is a day that reminds me that I have a weekend off and time with both of my kids. This is a day that makes me wonder if my son will again tell me how he prefers his mom's and doesn't like my place(Bjtch let's him puke on her carpet for the dog to eat. I guess that's more "fun".). This is a day that yields nothing that is not put into it... Carpe diem or some such BS. I don't want to adult anymore...aha ;_;

Yeah I can relate in not wanting to adult anymore. I will probably remember 2022 as one of the most stressful years of my life, watching my IRA and house equity slow-roasting over an open bonfire for an entire year.

For a year I've been thinking about moving to my dad's, I guess the trailer is falling apart and he might have to go to a old person home. Many years ago he was saying he would fix a car for me to have. He barley has one working. But I'd probably be depressed living in the middle of nowhere again anyways.

Fun fact. A firehouse footlong sub sandwich has had a 40% price increase since 2018. Are you making 40% more than you were in 2018?

And eggs around me went from $1 to now over $6 a dozen in less than a year. Blah blah...avian flu. Still, there are places where they're under $2 a dozen. What's up with that? If we go by inflation, minimum wage (The minimum part was originally meant to mean the minimum needed to live and support one's self.), it's supposed to be something like $24 an hour. Who the hell can live off of $7.50 an hour? Our government seems to think we can. It's not like companies care. I mean, if they could get away with paying pennies, they would. Never forget, no company and I do mean absolutely none, cares about you, the individual. Gotta fight for what you want.

This morning I was watching a video of a rich person that found out he had a room under his garage. Long story short he paved his garage and didn't even have stairs going down there and never paved that room. Anyways these nice houses with crazy high ceilings and huge windows could grow fruit trees. A inside garden too. That would make the place have better energy. Instead Ive seen people cut down trees to have a view of a mountain and it turned out that didn't work. The value of homes go down though with less trees and not making a extra room be reachable.

It's three videos, everyone in the comments are saying something that they would do to the room they found. https://youtube.com/watch?v=qR-ZflaADGA&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE
