What do you think determines how well known you are on here?

I was just musing about this for a while. Some users are here almost every day and they sort of blend into the background. They could be gone for weeks and no one would notice. Yet others are in everyone's mind when they're here and everyone seems to be on friendly terms with them. What factors do you think determine that? What does it take to be popular on MO?

I was very well known with the last group of people here on maiotaku about 2 waves ago. The last post topic in the random forum was even more active than it is now though not by a lot in I was one of the, if not the most, zaniest contributors to that topic. I still can be but it all depends on how busy the forum is and if there's enough to really get me going.

I mostly dwell in the last topic, I'm not the original poster but it's my baby lol, so I'm not that well known anymore aside from those who visit the last post.

I wouldn't consider myself 'well known' here in spite of being a regular with 200+ 'friends' on my list. I'd say this is probably because I don't get involved much with the role playing or other games and more friendly/sociable parts of the site. I probably don't give off a very friendly image either. When I talk to people it's almost exclusively in PM form so you won't see me posting on people's walls much, which probably has a lot to do with it too.

I hate PMing. I prefer speaking openly on the forums. In fact from my perspective, you are better known the more you post on the forums. But like you said there are some that post every day and even those can blend into the background. There needs to be something memorable about you. Or something that stands out and separates you from the herd. Take Siru for instance. It wasn't the pooping before bed that made him known, it's his posts in general and the things he says that make him known and separates him from the common riff raff. XD
