Have you guys ever tried your luck with dating sites (other than this one)? If so how was the experience?

I met at least one person anytime I used them but honestly, had more success from PSN when I was very active in online gaming. Dating sites are not bad concepts, it's just most the people who use them that make them bad. it's hard for me to consider this site as being a dating website because the forum aspect of it makes it seem like more of a social networking place. But maybe that's what sets it apart from the others. People come here because they have things in common already. With Otakus and anime nerds, it seems their personalities don't stray too far away from each other whereas on something more global you get all kinds and types and a broader range of psychosis.

Eh, it's hit or miss. Free dating sites like Okcupid and POF are just as superficial as apps like Tinder, and you're dealing with most other problems like a disproportionate amount of men to women, people just looking for sex, and over half the time just never getting a response. I've also checked out sites similar to this one like gk2gk.com, otakubooty.com, and animedatingsite.com and they all suffer the same problems this one. A lot of spread out/inactive users. Paid sites like match.com probably give you a slightly better chance just because if you're willing to pay for a membership, more people are probably serious about finding someone.

Well, it worked for me. I met my current girlfriend on POF and we've been together for almost three months. Now, I wouldn't make dating sites your only option, but they're not a bad tool if you use them correctly.

:Cecil: I tried both of them plus a few other ones and found disappointing response... At least ppl on here actually talk to you....and friendships can be formed.... ^_^

What are you going into it expecting? I have been here, my first dating site, with reasonable success. The idea here, we are friends, and then from that, perhaps we will build a relationship. I thought it is a bit silly how people here didn't want to be here for dating, but i think it is quite clever now that I understand it better. Relationships are more than sex, and can span from just friends to the one you marry. This site promotes that atmosphere. We do whatever we want, and are great for it! I don't think anyone here is here to judge you, and that is what I think makes it best. We are here because we want to be, we can express ourselves more, and be wild and crazy if we want. Make fun of our mistakes and learn if we want. Just talk about random stuff, or share ideas. This at its core is the building block for a relationship. It is what you make it I guess, but the community sure helps. But sometimes having friends and taking care of them becomes more fulfilling than locking into a relationship.

I signed up on tinder but didn't use it with the intention of finding anyone. I just got curious and played "judge people in ten seconds based on a photo and a few sentences" for a bit.

Never really took one seriously enough. There's a couple women on here that I'm sure are into me but nothing has resulted from that yet you know. Not exactly looking for a "result" either. They're just cool ladies. Everyone on here has been pretty cool. My benefit from being on here has been a somewhat entertaining way to pass the time and flirting.

I never tried any other dating site after this... I guess it was a hit for me?

Tinder is a good way to meet people, that being said its less relationships more casual in my opinion. I have friends who use pay sites like match.com . The general consensus on those sites are people are looking for long term relationships and its a lot more detailed than just swiping / liking based on looks.
