My first decree is that all the women of the world outside of my family shall henceforth be my wife. Then, on a more serious note. Punishment for crime will be as follows: Theft: First offense, one hand chopped off. Severe theft crimes will result in both hands cut off or death penalty Rape: First offense, death penalty Arson: death penalty Treason: death penalty Burglary: death penalty People who are deemed mentally insane and potentially violent shall be put to death. Failure to stay medicated for people with mental diseases will result in them "dissapearing" from society Failure to respect elders: 50 lashes Child abuse: 100 lashes first offense, 200 additional lashes every consecutive offense Murder: Affected family chooses how murder dies within reasonable limits, else death penalty is charged by the state Wanton failure to obey laws: repeated offenses result in being "dissapeared" from society False accusation: Death penalty Treason, rebellion, inciting war: death to all parties involved I know I have a lot of harsh punishments in there, but as long as you obey the law and not cause trouble for others, you have nothing to fear. I like Arc's plan so I'm piggybacking on that save for the harem. Theft wouldn't have so severe of a punishment. I'm thinking evaluate the purpose for the theft then judge accordingly. Shit it could be my fault the theft happened. On child abuse I agree for the first offense adding with it modern rules, parenting sessions, anger management, etc. Second offense is 200 lashings plus the harm done to the child along with sterilization. In my kingdom everyone will be called to serve either in military or civil service for a minimum of 2 years. Completion of service will grant citizenship. Just because you are born here doesn't make you a citizen. There will be licenses to breed with eligibility starting first with citizenship. If a child is born without a license to have been conceived the parent will be severely fined and doubly fined should the person fail to name the second biological parent. Only in dramatic times of destitution shall there be assistance programs however this doesn't mean people are given money to spend freely what they will. They are given the things they need in equality to their neighbor. Basically social services will have a complete face lift and overhaul.

@verucassault I like the changes you appended. Very well thought out. I agree with your view on theft as well. Lenience will be given to thefts of need rather than want. @panda I know it might seem crazy, but you are viewing it from a perspective of a society that has always been lenient towards crime. If you were born in my kingdom you would view our current society as crazy. Indeed, it is hard to imagine a land without prisons. Get rid of the parts that are a detriment to society to have resources to help the people that really need it, to help the weak survive and grow.
