You are so welcome! I hope you find the site interesting and meet all kinds of people. They are really nice on here. ありがとう!It is a little difficult language but I hope to get fluent in it one day! Yes I love the Japanese culture and hope to also get a chance to go over there and experience first hand! I truly have anime to thank for introducing me to the culture and history. My family thinks I'm a little strange for my love of Japan but I don't care. Have a nice day!

Hello! Welcome to MaiOtaku! I am new to this site as well... You seem like a very interesting person. I agree that anime has the power to change people's perception about the world, and I think it already has. :)

Well I guess I'm with you guys! Though I'm 27 and that's not really an "old otaku" by Japanese standards. But, why? Is otakudom more a passing teenage-obsession kind of thing in the West? The first generation of Otakus in Japan are entering their 50s and their population is pretty big not to mention their continuing influence on the whole anime/manga scene. Every time I'm at Comic Market I see lots of people that are over 30 along with hardcore teenage Doujin freaks that buy so many doujin that they have to pack em at the spot and send them home through mail :)

As Madarame from the manga Genshiken once said: "You don't choose to become an otaku, you realize that you have become one after the fact." I don't think its something you "grow out of" - it's life man. Otaku is life.

Cheers mates!
