if you want friends, post in the forums more. more exposure = more people who'll know you and be comfortable with you. I cant speak for others, but I dont like random friend requests from people who dont post in the forums. Thats just me though...
Supporting the site in order to pay for server definitely helps so you can meet those people though.

I like Hetalia~ I just don't keep up with it as much as I used to. England is my favorite. I also like Germany too. My fav ship is the cliche America x England but I can't help that I love it so much.
