@rain yo but you get tax benefits and legal benefits from being married not to mention its just an extra incentive to stick together because divorce is annoying i agree that its more of a weird arcane ceremony but the government incentivices it so it does make pragmatic sense to get hitched

i think its worth the possible hassle of divorce, but as long as you lived with that person for long enough and get to know them long enough than the margen for divorce is smaller the biggest reason people get divorced it because they drift apart, but the "half of marriages end in divorce" statistic isn't even true. its the fact that if you get divorced once your more likely to get divorced again that brings down the number so low in reality the majority of marriages stay together financial arrangements is another reason to get married. if your a house wife or your partner is making the majority of the income and that spouse then cheats on you and leaves you for someone else? your fucked. if your married on the other hand depending the state you can rake them over the coals or at least get your fair share
