Things you wish you knew sooner.

What are some relationship related things you wish you knew sooner, that you'd go back and tell yourself about if you could?

Relationship advice I cannot give, but a world of well placed memes is how I choose to live! Maybe the best bonds in life are made through a simple exchange of ideas, no?

None. For without failure, I would not have success. Oh, there are regrets, but I have my kids. So, there's success. Every cloud has a little ray of sunshine.

Silence separates faster than walls. Just love isn't enough. People show love differently even if you live by the Golden Rule. Everyone has boundaries and you shouldn't expect someone to give you everything you want if it goes against their values. Listen to your gut; red flags. Healthy relationships comfort more than they drain. Actions are more powerful than words so some apologies aren't good enough. Conflict isn't a sign of failure and all people fight - you just have to learn how to do it constructively. Don't lose yourself. Put yourself first sometimes.

I wish I would of knew what love meant sooner. It's a action not a comforting word. It's a sacrifice not a defiant refusal. It's a promise not a afterthought. It's a long journey not a good or bad day. It's something to work on not give up on. It's something to treasure not take for granted. It's something to nuture not tear down. It's selfless not selfish. It's about freedom not control. It's about 2 not 1. It's about communication not withdrawals. It's about trust not lies. It's about remembering the good and forgiving the bad. It's patient.

Talk about what your insecure about with your partner instead of hiding it and when you get the reassurance from your partner stop letting it worry you. Trust yourself to your partner care so you can let go of your insecurities. Don't deem true what you fear especially if your partner has showed you it's not. Just be a grateful receiver of love and let it make you whole. Be real from the jump. The more you pretend the more unhealthy and weighted your relationship will feel and you won't get to experience growing together in earnest which is more healthy and lighter on the conscious. You don't want your real self trapped beneath your own lies. It only gets heavier and heavier so start with the truth no matter what.
