So what do people think about universal basic income? I personally am against it because I don't think we are ready for it. We may never be ready for it. I noticed some people on social media pushing for a universal basic income. Universal Basic Income is a base income given to everyone to take care of basic needs if not more. So everyone would have a minimum income regardless of job, skills, or education. It does not mean you cannot make more money than the minimum, but everyone would be guaranteed the minimum income. Thoughts?

I find it is trivializing money. Going down to a basic level, what is money? Money is a trade device. If you do something for me, I give you money. If you have something I want and you are willing to part with it, I give you money. In other words, nothing is being traded to get that money. We aren't doing labor for somebody and in return they give us money. We aren't trading an item that we have and getting money in return. This would make money generally pointless. We might as well go back to a system of bartering if UBI were a thing.

@hell_hound7 @vercuassault there was some things I wanted to say in response to your tangent, but I am too tired to really rant. (sorry off topic but wanted to vent, continue with universal income)

For universal basic income comes the question. If everyone gets paid the same no matter the job. Why would people do dangerous jobs for the same amount of money as a normal 9-5? Your electricians, your nuclear scientist, your police, your body guards, SECRET SERVICE, FBI, military. Why would anyone do these jobs or any job that requires college education. I can work at mcdonalds and make the same as a long haul trucker without driving from point to point? This is just another way for lazy people to get rewarded for doing the bare minimum.

The current system works, the current system is NOT broken. The only issue is with the government taking our money for taxes and using it to fund these politician's lavish lifestyle. Or even worse going towards funding schools to buy dozens of copies of books on critical race theory to teach kids at school

Or... Those teachers getting paid shit. I'd say that's even bigger. But, that seems to never change.

Well when they are teaching kids more about race than how to actually read, yeah i dont see a problem with the pay.

I dont necessarily think teacher pay is the biggest issue. School funding overall is bad. Especially in low income areas

They could always make bread, soup, and utiliies free lol. They do it when shit goes to the toilet anyways. I mean when taxpayer money is going into concrete spikes under overpasses to prevent homeless people from taking cover from the scorching sun and freezing rain....
Some people have no idea how hard it is to get out of homelessness....
