(reminder that while if we did stop the social distancing for a very short time the economy would rise, the fall we would see afterwards would be even worse than if we just hunker down and wait it out for a few months. if you want to help the economy than stay inside)

Viruses have different strands and mutations. There have been strains of Corona in the past. But this particular one is brand new. Just like the swine flu, bird flu, and Spanish flu are all flu viruses, but they were all different unique strains with different symptoms, severity, and mortality rates.

It was proposed by Dems, but it is very unlikely to pass due to Republican push back. Hell, I doubt all Dems support it because it states that the bill has no known dollar cost at this time.
It would pay you from the beginning of this year to the end of this year an increase up to 25000 total over that time span, roughly 13 an hour or so, assuming you are essential. They would have to define essential employees when the bill is passed to see who gets it. The money goes to employers first before employees see it, so who knows what happens then.
Everything until the bill goes into effect would be retroactive, so you would receive all of it at one time. I didn't read a ton into it, but that appears to be the basics of it.
