There were a lot of poison pills in the original bill. Dems pushed back because there was no oversight on where the corporate money was going to go and a "deal" had to be struck. Dems replied with a bunch of non-helpful bullshit of their own like airline companies needing to reduce carbon emissions over the next few years.
As part of the compromise, a committee was put in place to over see it and the emissions requirements were removed.
The Republicans then blamed the Dems for not passing the bill as they proposed it and wasting "precious" time that could have been helping the American public, while the Dems blame the Republicans for pushing a bill that cared about nothing but putting money in corporate pockets and cutting the money that was supposed to go to the public in half.
While I'm all for the greener world, the extra shit both sides try to stick in just to have things to give up was ridiculous and only served to weaken the base of the bill for the general workforce.
TL:DR: Both sides made ridiculous requests that were not at all needed to get relief out to the people and are blaming each other for wasting time doing it.

Two things from that. The first is that I had not heard that it was specifically for NY, that is very interesting.
The second is this line here:
"No employer would be required to participate, but all would be strongly encouraged to and the program would be widely advertised."
That is interesting. I imagine someone will find loopholes for this.

Nurses to grocery store workers. I was about to say, that would be nothing to the MDs and DOs already working up there. Not saying they wouldn't take it, just saying, that typically isn't even the amount of a sign on bonus they get for signing on with a company for a 2-3 year minimum.

My work place threw up random barricades Metal Gear Survive style. It was all going so well till I approached a manager from the blatant opening from the rear. It was supposed to be a way to interact with associates safely but where it is positioned can be accessed 6 ways to Sunday. Oh well.
