Being an adult

keitrains
I find it difficult to really meet anyone, friendship or more, now that I'm on the adult side. I still enjoy anime and have tried cons, but if anything, being in my early 30s, I can't help but feeling "too old" to participate in most things where I could even meet others. Are there any good ways to meet people once being an adult takes up most time?

There's a stigma for older people being friends with younger people which is pretty dumb. One of my good friends is 32 (and their best friend is 56) and it isn't something I think about. Obviously some people you meet may not feel like becoming friends but always go to things you want! you should still try make a friend you want. People at conventions are there because they wanna be around like-minded people and have fun, don't hold yourself back.

I can relate. Probably the reason I stopped trying to get into anime/games forums or stuff like that. It felt awkward to me. At least here I saw a more big and clear amount of adult people.

My Chinese age is 25.Lunar calendar is weird..and I finished my education for the time being..as a result..people like my relatives constantly stress the fact that I'm "old" and "immature"...Still, I feel I'm young..*dokidoki I don't feel too old to try on lolita fashion, read shoujo manga and befriend people who are younger/older than me.One of my good friends is 35~

I also feel the same way being close to your age. Attending cons or talking about certain hobby related stuff is difficult as you want to fit in or not seem like too old etc. But as has been said here. Age is just a number which should not restrict us from doing what we enjoy in the limits of law of course and our sensibilities. It's easy to create boubdaries in our minds that don't need to be there. Just be the person you want to be and if they shun you then are they people you want to have around. Of course one needs to play by certain social cues to not be annoying etc but that is more related to outside of the hobby in this case.

maybe not so much being an adult but, i realised i'm scared of getting older. i want to enjoy youth so much more than i have been. although, i want to get older at the same time. there's many experience yet to be had and i look forward to the future. i hope i can be the person i wish to be!

Yeah I have no irl friends out of school and college, all I do now is work and be alone. Getting closer to 30 and I don't see myself finding any good people. Adulting sucks.
