Being an adult

Well I'm still a young adult, but yeah paying for you own bills, loans, and other expenses certainly show being an adult isn't all upside. But as for meeting people with similar interests it's not that hard, especially if said interests aren't limited to anime and manga, otherwise get into other "nerd" interests like Magic, table-top gaming at your local hobby store and you're bound to find people with similar tastes even in your similar age group. Hell, at my local game club we got a couple of 40 and 50 year olds who play DnD...

You're never too old to do cons! Look at the amount of adult characters - almost the whole cast of FMA, Attack on Titan etc, in the uk there's an elderly couple who go to cons every year as Ghibli and DBZ characters befitting of their age.

It's harder as you get older, but far from impossible. Someone introduced me to a site called meetup.com a while back full of people who are pretty much in the same spot and are looking for friends to hang out with and stuff. It might be worth checking out. I made an anime club using it and have had two meetings so far for my area. Nothing big, just hanging with a couple guys to chat about weeb junk. To no surprise there's no active scene in this area, but have chatted with people from neighboring cities who have more established clubs going. My work hours kinda makes it hard to meet with any of them though.
