Vent

Thanksgiving used to be the problem holiday then everyone would basically hate each other until the week before Christmas. As if they were conditioned by that week to curb their behaviors because of gifts, as if one week would make up for everything through the year. Lol My family just broke apart after my gen became adults. I guess we all realized being around crazy was a choice not really an obligation. But now we are all super awkward around each other because we no longer socialize together.

My family has always been that way. Thanksgiving is usually just myself and my parents. My brother normally doesn't attend with us because he's either with his wife's family or his own mother's and other brothers. Though when we were younger he would sometimes bring his girlfriends from the local strip club to piss off our dad. Was weird saying Grace with a pole dancer in Juicy hot-pants. Winter is such bs, I've had unfortunate and unnerving incidents happen near Christmas the last two years. I do hope it's not a cycle that will continue, because it sucks.

Ya know what's really BS? Losing in a fighting game to a 4yr old... I only took it easy because he's my son AND I. Am. Not. Bitter...Nnnnope. Not. A. Bit. ;_; On a side note. I did get to see another mile stone of his. His first rage quit. Dawwww... Precious memories.

Just want to say I am sick and tired of my family alienating me ever since I took charge of my life and made something of myself. They say they want the old me back who was always depressed and hating life. I'm never going back to that version of myself. They hate that. They make demands of me last second and when I tell them I can't and I have responsibilities to take care of they tell me how bad of a son or brother or grandchild I am. It's funny how people I only met a year ago have become more of a family to me than my actual family is ever have done for me.

@soild_snake95 At least you've got a cool sister or so I hear, right? Hehe, a great number of people have difficulties with balancing their relatives needs with their own. You, me, and 7/11 users on MO. By what I have seen, yes, you have made great strides in progress from how you were in a short amount of time. As a complete stranger, know that even I can tell a positive difference. That being the case your radical turn around may be something that takes time for others to fully appreciate. Even blood relatives. Of course don't get dismayed if things are frustrating because be dedicated to your self improvement is the correct course of action. But I know you're already aware of that. I wouldn't cut your family out of the picture or never help them when they ask, but you are entitled to say no when it truly is important to your growth.

@solid_snake95 Sucks that's happening to you but family isn't everything. If they aren't good for you cut them off. Think of it as a medical procedure where you have a cancerous growth removed. They might be your blood but they ain't your family if they always want to keep you under thumb

My friends have all been telling me that. So when I move in August to Florida I'm cutting contacts. They can say whatever they want about me but I'm done.
