Am I the only one here who watches Penn & Teller: Bullshit? Ouija boards are for suckers and this is coming from someone who is religiously pagan.

We just placed the board in the middle of the floor in the renevated basement
By the way, I'm so tired because I was so paranoid last night and kept jumping at every sound XD
I think whatever it was is gone, thankfully. I think the creators of ouiji boards don't believe they actually work. These kinds of things shouldn't be marketed towards kids. The way I see it an ouiji board is a primitive way of communicating with the dead. I want to experiment with it again sometime, but never again in my own house.

I have one because: shits and giggles. Why not, right? I also have two decks of tarot cards. The obscure and occult are fun and while I'm not particularly religious in any form, atheists and people like Penn and Teller suck the magic out of life. Don't get me wrong, I like them and agree a lot with atheists but when they are closed down regarding paranormal stuff, assuming everything can be explained and assuming we already know everything to be known, that limits possibilities and makes for a very small, dreary world.

to be fair i have never seen a movie that had anything to do with a ouija board...besides paranormal activity XD but that doesnt count cuz its fake and claims its based on a true story

It never claimed to be based on a real story, it was just filmed like the blair witch project. Those movies were corny, but all horror tends to be a little corny.
Like I said, I believe on some level, but I think people's minds play tricks in them more than they'd like to think.
Ouija is nothing new, it just blew up in the late 19th century-early 20th. The was during a time when spiritualism was kind of big. Even Houdini tried to debunk a good bit and was quite successful. But, I think there's something to the whole ghost thing, it's just that there are way too many situations that can't be clearly debunked. However, it's one of those things that mainstream science can't reliably study or explain fully. There are a ton of natural phenomena that can't be explained, but that doesn't mean it must be something magical or spiritual. But, who knows? It's still fun to believe.

Well Veruca, I agree many atheists and people who consider themselves skeptics are too willingly to dismiss what we call "paranormal". Personally, I still believe in things like spirits (not necessarily ghosts) and black magic, but to my mind, the Ouija board is more of a gimmick used to make money is all.
