Has exposure to anime/manga changed your world view at all or influenced how you live your life?

I'd say so. There are definitely anime I watched in my formative years that have had a big impact on me like Princess Mononoke and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Aside from influencing my aesthetic, I just don't think I would be the same person if I wasn't an anime fan. I think anime is one of the things that sort of made me feel like I had permission to be myself.

Well I can see how this thread would entice people to share their negative impacts. But I'll start off with a possibly positive one. I liked dbz, bleach, back in the day and tried to be like my fav anime heroes. Motivated me to workout and I ran anime music in my head and even iconic moments during sports. When I had to push harder and dig deep in football I was imagining myself as one of those characters and having that "unfaltering spirit." Lol...i dunno whether this makes it sound good or sad. >//> D-don't judge me!

@Neet One I think this topic will have more effect if you disclose your personal experiences in the OP.

It's the reason I don't sleep as much as I should. More seriously, it gave me something to be passionate about.

I also work well with anime music... And the characters I feel can inspire for sure. I even use some to inspire others. Also, sleep is for the weak! Or so I said once I started reading manga and watching anime late night. And I too am passionate about it. The most influential thing is, it became a prerequisite interest in a potential mate. I can't see myself with a girl who doesn't like something I am this passionate about. Either anime/manga or video games but preferably both

I'd like to think that there are things that I've learned from anime that I am grateful that I haven't had to learn in real life lol!

I do not believe anime has necessarily taught me much of a thing however the difference with American vs Japanese story writing keeps me watching it.
