Double Standards: Sexism and Feminism

yaasshat
Kid, It's sexist because it means that you assume women to be weak and fragile. Thing is, we are two different sexes... We both do different roles better. I will not stand in the way of a woman who wants to do what a man would traditionally do, but don't ask for help if you can't (Same goes for men). Yes, there needs to be equality, but equality does not mean we are the same. Of course, when it comes to pay and fair treament, we should be equal in that in every sense.

@Luna Unfortunately that's where the stigmas of gender roles come into play. People think women are better at parenting because they are natural home makers, they are better at cleaning, they have the children physically so they have those natural maternal instincts... and it's all a load of BS. ^I don't have those things. I am not motherly or maternal. I am afraid to hold infants. I only feel comfortable around children who can speak clearly and tell me what they need or want. >_< That thing that people claim women have totally missed me.

It's being seen as more of a competition than actual advancement of society because everybody wants their voice heard. But what a lot of people don't seem to get is that attention can be divided. We can focus on two problems and work on both at the same time. Also, love Shoeonhead

@animekid Yeah, what I described was sexism. Giving differential treatment depending on their sex. Not all sexism is inherently bad, though. This also feeds into what queen said about women wanting to be showered by gifts from guys. A big reason men got paid more back in the day is because they were expected to pay for all of the woman's needs. It was a terrible thing, but married women were little more than the property of their husbands. Ironically, a lot of women will get pissed if the guy doesn't pay for their date. I mean do you want equal treatment or not? Men can't get paid less and still shower women with gifts. The wage gap is a lot smaller than it was when this tradition was invented, so it's more of a struggle for men to foot the bill. I'd rather women just get equal pay and opportunities and we all split the bill. Also, Veru does better with kids then she lets on. Don't let her fool you :P

Let's just focus on that we all have abilities, and different people have different/better abilities than others. My male friend can bake better than me but I could whip out a decent meal if u want. @arc this is just selfishness, we're all selfish human beings who want things. Back in the day, men wanted trophy wifes and women well they get what they can since education, work wasn't a thing for them. But that was back then, things are different now and i think it might change for the better who knows.

Queen, we are in a very awkward transitory period. The reason I didn't date much at all in college was because I was so broke and embarrassed that I couldn't pay for two people on a date. Men should split the bill with the women because they don't own her. However, if I used that explanation on a first date as to why I want to split the bill, I would be seen as a cheapskate. Women, please. Before your first date with a guy make it clear that you want to split the bill. It takes a load off of their chest and you don't have to give away your independence.

@Arc/yaasshat Huh.... I never really thought about it that way, I mean even if I saw a woman who was buff as fuck(like queens post lol) getting beat up and I also saw a weak looking dude getting beat up at the same time and in the same way I would still feel worse about the woman who was buff as fuck getting hurt....huh....maybe I am a little bit sexist T_T I can't help it though, honestly T_T
