Lucid dreams

Yess, that's not fun at all, why I didn't want to control it was because I'd probably end up doing what you did XD imagine, if I see horrible things without getting that far, what would happen to my body if I do that? Lmao I think the place where I live influences the appearances too. I live in one of the most dangerous cities...

Had that feeling as well Lunatic. I would be absent minded sometimes, and I would literally feel like I smoked a few joints of Weed.

Hmmm interesting, Seems like you guys have been to the spiritual world. @lunatic Spiritual world can be very fun and interesting. You have to be careful though because you're not the only one there. More than likely you're being watched. You also have to be on your tippy toes for guys like "white hoodie man".

I really don't want to talk about what happened there, and what was the reason I always had my claws out when doing it since then. But yeah...the way you think and the environment you live in, can sometimes influence what you encounter there quite a bit lol. @BlueRose Honestly I'd describe it as a really bad hangover, minus the ultimate headache part. And I was always pretty damn tired too, despite sleeping for a solid amount of time. @Wertingperson Mhmmmm yup...I have indeed learned that I wasn't alone there....the hard way... *sweatdrop* -_-'

It's interesting to read about the OBEs here. To address AnimeKid's statement on a study that gamers have less nightmares or are not afraid of their nightmares like other people is just a bunch of speculation. The only theory I would subscribe to is that avid gamers are more likely to lucid dream. For instance, last night I had a dream that I was in a house with my brother and a special news broadcast came on saying that aliens (War of the Worlds) had invaded. We laughed it off until we saw a ton of birds flying the other direction. A majority of that nightmare was spent running and hiding. We ended up hiding in an abandoned business building instead of trying to get out of the city. Now here is when I began to lucid dream. I was hiding and the aliens had that tenticle thing slipping through the door to look for people. I thought, crap, I never thought they would do that so I just erased that part of the dream and gave myself a crowbar so my brother and I could go to the sewers. I sort of re-wrote my nightmare like it was a movie. I totally would have died in my nightmare otherwise.

Well at the very least, lucid dreams are still safe. Even if it's a nightmare, you're still in your own world. It gets a little bit tricky in OBEs though. Sleep paralysis basically serves as a crossroad between the worlds. You can either stay in your body, and go lucid dreaming in your own subconscious. Or you can choose to go outside, and explore uncharted areas of the spirit world (or the astral plane...or whatever the heck people like to call that place). However you do have to be extremely careful while doing that, or rather I don't recommend doing it at all. Because it's not exactly a dream, even though it feels similar to one.

Is the spirit world really that dangerous though? I've never heard of anyone dying from exploring it.

You're not really going to physically die from it. But you can run into certain "obstacles" there, that can really leave a scar on your sanity. In other words: Those who are easily mentally broken, should never ever attempt it. Also...I don't recommend doing it without first mastering lucid dreaming. Explanation: Having long and vivid lucid dreams requires an extremely high amount of concentration, and complete control over both your conscious and subconscious mind. The problem is, that some of the least friendly things you may encounter in the spirit world can and will make you face your greatest fears, some of which you didn't even know you had. And well...if you can't keep your emotions and thoughts tame, you're really in for a treat. You might end up having hardcore insomnia and epic nightmares every night. Or in the worst case scenario, go completely nuts.
