Lucid dreams

For those who don't know, it's a dream where you're fully aware of the fact that you're dreaming. Which gives you an ability to control the dream and basically do whatever the heck you want. Have you ever had one of those, or you're like me and have an ability to induce them on your own? If so, what are your experiences? And if you haven't, what would you do in a dream where you could literally make anything come true? As for myself, I like to spend them talking to my spirit guide. If you don't know what that is. It's a being, that knows you better than anyone else. Everyone has one, and dreams are one of the ways to meet them. Nobody really knows whether they're nothing but an illusion your subconscious made, or they're actually something supernatural. At any rate, talking to that person has helped me a lot in life, and even gave me ideas that I would never have thought of on my own. http://orig05.deviantart.net/e511/f/2009/329/6/4/dream_world_by_yaxxe.jpg

Sleep paralysis is a fail-safe mechanic your body has, to prevent you from acting out your dreams and potentially hurting yourself. For example sleepwalkers don't have it, that's why they are able to just randomly stand up and go somewhere while they're still asleep. You go through it every time when you go to sleep, you're just not conscious at that moment. But some people are aware of themselves during that time, which can be a pretty damn unpleasant experience. So yeah they are connected in a way. Those who attempt to induce lucid dreams by themselves, usually run into sleep paralysis at some point.

I'm fully adept in the ways of Lucid Dreaming, Sleep Paralysis, and Astral Projection. I consider the three to be synonymous and spiritual. Most people will have Sleep Paralysis once in there life, many without even really realizing or giving credence to it. Sleep Paralysis use to be a tricky scenario for me when I was younger. I usually entered it after having profound nightmares, or paranormal experiences. An opposing feeling, and overbearing prescience would ensue; usually with a shadow figure near the end of the bed, or a screeching electrical noise surrounding me. As I got older, I realized how to take full control of myself, breaking or going in deeper with the paralysis. For those who want to know how to break out of it, all you have to do is take a deep breath. Breathing represents the physical, and it snaps your consciousness/body back in reality. Though, as I got older I learned that Sleep Paralysis isn't a bad thing. It's all about harnessing, and developing your spiritual state. You can either feed into the fear, or you can conquer it. To put this in perspective, on how Sleep Paralysis ties into Astral Projection: When you're paralyzed, only your consciousness is awake. You're not in a completely desolate state, most people report feeling and being able to see despite being paralyzed. For me, I'm now able to harness the paralysis and travel out of body from that point. All Sleep Paralysis is, is like you said Lunatic of Strife, a mechanic to prevent your body from acting out your dreams. It's just an in-between state from the dream world to the physical world. I believe that to be a gateway to the astral. For Lucid Dreaming, I consider that synonymous with Astral Travel in many respects. You're acting out certain events with your will. People can also merely use that same will, to travel out of body as well. Well, those are my opinions on the issue. Wonderful Topic, cheers!

Lol nice theme... To me it used to happend to have a lucid dream but not fully expirienced... I would sleep and then realize i am awake but then me inside the dream goes WILD destroying everything. Or just i realize i am sleeping and at once everything turns black and i have to open my eyes and realize i woke up... Sometimes i was able to get back to the dream by just closing my eyes but not for long. But the most unpleasant expirience for me is when it just hallens for me to see something for like 2nd time. Like i dreamed it... Like i "predicted the future" but i cant remember it untill i see it... and sometimes i can remember like 3-5-10 sec what will happend but when i realize it, it is too late. It used to happend a lot... Now rarely but lol... I remember almost each time.

@BlueRose Yeah, sleep paralysis is basically a border between reality and dream world. Though I noticed you were talking about an OBE (out of body experience). It's not exactly a dream since it's possible only during sleep paralysis, but it sure is an interesting experience as well. This is how I first met my spirit guide btw. Basically I got stuck in a sleep paralysis one night, and the first thought that came to my mind was how to get myself to stand up. Since it's not the reality, I wondered if I could get out of my body as a ghost of sorts. I tried and it actually worked lol. Since I could fly, pass through the walls and all that good stuff. I took the opportunity t̶o̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶c̶k̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶g̶i̶r̶l̶'̶s̶ ̶s̶e̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶l̶o̶c̶a̶l̶ ̶g̶y̶m̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶w̶e̶r̶s̶ *cough* *ehem* ...to explore the world and visit places I was never able to in real life. When I decided to go to the North Pole for funzies, I ended up running into somebody that I felt very familiar with, despite never actually meeting the person before. I talked to her for a very long time, and she seemed to know things about me that not even I knew. I got a little bit creeped out at first, and didn't want to sleep for a pretty long time. But my curiosity got better of me as always, so I eventually ended up finding her on purpose. And well...today I'm really glad I was able to meet somebody like that. ^^

Yeah, and to clarify on that point for those who don't know; OBE = Astral Projection. Interesting experience you had there! I believe ghosts are basically Astral Bodies. The same as us when we have an OBE, the only difference being is that they're dead. Lol, at you. Yep, when I got the hang of it I would do the same thing, doing things I'm unable to do in the physical. Currently, I'm exploring other realms per say heh, not on this plane. Sounds like you got a good Spirit Guide there, and a female at that. For me, mine was a White Tiger. I was having an intense Lucid Dream, where I was in an obstacle course full of a bunch of weird contraptions. Suddenly I was pulled from my dream then went into the most intense Sleep Paralysis Experience I ever had. I was face to face in the darkness with a White Tiger. Somehow I innately knew to ask "Are you my Spirit guide?" Then I was met with a roar that shook me to my foundation. The paralysis threw me into a convulsion and I ended up feeling as invigorated as ever!

Insidious is a bold movie Panda, it's accurate. Though, the portrayal of Astral Projection is purely positive if done correctly. There is a bunch of negativity out there, and a bunch of negative experiences. As I mentioned above, my first experiences were like things from that movie. Overcoming fear is the key thing. I'll make up a quick list of Anime that talks about these themes. Many Manga/Anime artists are all about these themes. They put out hints, ect. Just takes an eye to see them.
