Kira Basically Did Nothing Wrong

edtastic
Kira from Deathnote did nothing wrong in my opinion. He was just trying to make the world better for innocent people and only killed remorseless criminals, except for all those police trying to stop him. Just want to see if people agree or disagree with me.

He was possessed by the death note, which altered his personality quite a bit. Although his motives initially were pure the more he used it the more heinous his actions became. He's no different than any other person with the power to kill for "the greater good" (like government orgs) so I guess he's like, 80 percent not thaaaat bad? There's a serious grey area imo. Plus he's no Putin, Osama or Hitler, so go Kira.

Yeah, he was just playing God and that's pretty much taboo so I think that's why people would say he lost his mind to the power. I would do the same thing, minus killing the cops, I would've just moved across the world and carried out my dealings there.

I believe he ended up becoming twisted by power.

Granted i was sad to see him die.

Well, yeah, that obviously happened as at the end he was a raving maniac hyperventilating and drooling on himself with that evil grin all the time. Just to clarify I meant in essence what he did was not wrong.

Kira needed to go. A good example of becoming what you hate. Many a criminal can justify themselves in their own frame of mind. But when you willingly take away someone else's ability to pursue their own happiness independent of you? Kira's wish may have been initially pure. But it rotted when he thought he could play god. You'd be surprised how a remorseless criminal can be transformed by an act of mercy. Or how the innocent can mutate into a demon under the right circumstances. I suppose he lost his ability to see the shades of grey.

I agree that by the end of the show Light basically turns into a maniac, but his actions are still for the betterment of the new world. I also agree that part of that craziness came from the notebook because when he lost it he completely switched sides and was fighting with L to get the new Kira. If anyone else found the notebook then Light would have thought it was wrong and would also end up helping L. If he helped L and then found the notebook he would have never used it thinking it was wrong. Before he used the notebook the first time he was against killing people but after getting a taste of the power he became bent on creating a crime-free world. His goal was right and he still stood by his rule and only killed criminals and people trying to stop him, but internally he was going insane.
