Why are pedophiles considered mentally ill?

I do have a question... How exactly did said friend come to the conclusion that he's a pedophil? He at the very least has entertained the though, but how far has he gone with that? In this day and age it's a sad thing, but the internet provides ample opportunity to feed many sick desires. Also, yes he is human, but so are criminals too. I would suggest professional help and not just being an enabling buddy...

I never said to ignore pedophiles. I said kill them or help them. But seriously, there IS such a thing called a "bad" human. Hitler was human. Slave owners were human. Snooki is human...ish. There are some people that just want to watch the world burn. There's 3 places for those kind of people; Jail, a psych ward and a grave.

Yaasshat, His therapist told him. He has been seing a therapist for a while because he is also depressed. And Kichi, yes there are bad people, but generalising all pedophiles to be bad is what i don't think is fair, because he knows that his thoughts are wrong and that he needs help. he can tell the difference between right and wrong, which in my book is a main criteria for a good guy.

Look, the question was is pedophilia a mental illness. I already made the point clear that it states in the DSM-5 it is. Whether he admitted it or not is irrelevant. He's considered mentally ill. End of discussion

The question was never "is" he considered mentally ill, the question i asked was "why is he". Furthermore, I never meant for this thread to turn into a discussion, I meant for this threat to put a matter, which i believe needs to be adressed, into a new perspective. I admit that the thread did evolve into a discussion, but my goals with this thread are still the same: 1) To try to get people to look at the matter in a different perspective than usual. 2) For me to try to learn how people think of pedofiles, even after i urge them to reconsider, and why.

Also, by urging, well, everybody to reconsider their views on pedophiles and how vile they are for what they do, you're basically giving them the green light to do as they please, which, as an enabler, makes you no better than them. Your thoughts on pedophilia may not change, but ours most certainly will not. Pedophiles are scum. Children should not be looked at as a sexual object, for love or for lust. If you're OK with that, then you're the one who is mentally ill.

Pedos are bad people because we say they are ;D Thats about it. If the majority of people say they are bad, guess what? They are bad. Its that simple :l Who knows what right and wrong lol its all about what they taught you to believe. Now this shiieett aint going nowhere cause we all got taught differently. I'd kill a man if he even said Once upon a time he had a thought of doing something with my little sister, niece, daughter or whatever the fck I have.
