Why are pedophiles considered mentally ill?

You're telling me that I need to understand and accept the fact that some people are attracted to children and shouldn't judge him/her because he can't help it? FUCK OUTTA HERE I love chocolate. I don't give a good god damn if they're "mentally handicapped and can't help it." Fucker, you better not fuck children. It has nothing to do with the law, it has to do with standards and self morals, assuming you have any. You are not suppose to want to fuck babies. No exception. This shit it still going on? I ddon't care if it was my brother who told me he has sexual urges for children, I'd drop him in a heart beat. Sure, your friend should seek help and that'd be great, but it's like you want to protect, condone and justify his thought proces... You're a damn enabler with that kind of thought process and in my book that comes pretty close to being a pedophile yourself. If I hear someone say they want to kill for no reason , shouldiI just say " That's ok buddy, I'm here for ya."?

The reason it sounds like my mind is already made up is because the comments from other people are pretty onesided. Therefore, i try to balance out the discussion by trying to look at it from the other side. Had everybody left comments about how they would support a pedofile i would try to question those comments as well. Of course, i have a fairly biased point of view to begin with, but I am only trying to make the subject seen from other perspectives, because that's how i believe a good discussion should be. I'm not trying to onesidedly convince people of something that goes against what they already believe, I am just trying to make people reconsider what they already think by bringing new information to them. If they still come to the same cocnclusion, then it's fine by me. And Kichigai or Brian or whatever your name is, could we please try to keep it civilised. I would prefer it if we could discuss the subject as mature people with proper language. Of course, it is only a request, and as a person you are free to communicate as you will. I will say, however, the "FUCK OUTTA HERE"-comment seems very odd, seeing as i started this thread and you and I both have a choice to participate in the debate or not. If you don't like the debate you are free to leave and completely ignore it, but I don't see where you have the right to tell me to fuck off.

How old are you? 3 - The way you're going on about how you wanna "balance out" the argument sounds like you're trying to defend pedo's. Ok... Let's talk about people who steal. When someone is a kleptomaniac. Do they get a pass cause they know they are and can't help themselves? What about Nymphomaniacs? Or how about Necrophiliacs? Alchoholics? drug addicts? All things that are quite literally unhealthy habits that people claim are uncontrollable urges. Should they all get a pass if they steal, have sex with corpses, drink liquor or consume drugs? Because, you know, the general populace is pretty bias against those groups of people? You sound like you want to defend people of those situations. You should become a lawyer for those kind of people. Cause other than that, I can't see any other possible reason to even want to entertain the thought of defending a pedophile.

1- Sorry, i confused you with another person. It's a bit confusing how people can appearantly change their usernames on this site, and I had a vague memory of someone who looked like you, but with a different username, so I assumed you might be that guy but with another username. An honest mistake, and i appologize 2- I am 20, but my native language is not english, and I didn't realise you meant it as an expression instead of literally. 3- I won't defend their ACTIONS, I feel like I have already made this clear on multiple ocasions. I merely say that I think people forget that they are humans too. I'm not saying people should be like "Oh, you raped a kid/stole something/get drunk daily? Don't worry, it's alright", what I'm saying is just that people tend to forget that people with those problems are still at least part human, so we shouldn't completely exclude them from society, instead we should try to help them. If you ignore a pedofile or alchoholic etc., then there is nothing to keep them from following those urges. If, however they have actual human contact I think they can function a lot better and it's easier for them to not do the things that we all agree they shouldn't. Be friends with the people who have problems, just don't bring your kids to a pedofile, instead try to steer the pedofile away from anyplace with children, don't bring booze to the alchoholic, don't bring KFC to obese people, instead, do stuff together with them that will distract them from their problem, so they can easier ignore them.
