So I guess I'll try this thing out

jadeleaf
Hi guys! I'm pretty new to this site and to being, I guess, social on the internet and whatnot. I'm a first year university student on the East Coast, and I've been feeling pretty lonely this fall. The college I go to is super competitive and what everyone seems to enjoy doing in their free time is drinking and frat parties. Keeping up academically has been a real struggle since I'm trying to accommodate my hobbies while trying not to fail Chem and Physics...and I mean literally fail them in terms of what I got on two of my midterms... I dunno if anyone would empathize with this. I've always been that kid in high school who spent time surfing the Internet, playing on the DS, drawing, etc until the night before something needs to be done, and have never had any problems. Now I'm finding it a real struggle to study for real college classes. I understand now what people mean by weed-out classes. I'm never going to put my hobbies completely on hold, but I do have some goals I want to pursue. Ugh, sorry for that depressing rant. Been under the weather recently. I hope I'll get to spend more time on here and meet some awesome friends!

Yep. College has many classes that pretend that they are the only thing going on. Japanese was a 5 credit class each time for me. Every weekly test seemed like midterms. Hang in there!

It sounds stupid but college is NOT about learning. I didn't learn a darn thing. All the classes I was successful at I already had the skills to pass. Thus computer science and writing homework were done same day.

School is based on memory how well you can remember things needed to solve problems (like math and formulas) so your just going to be doing the same work, unless its something you havent been taught in earlier years its just the same thing except maybe harder and with more pressure on you

I understand your struggle, last year I failed my finals for this honors class. Instead of studying I played video games. :(

Thanks for the well wishes everyone (^_^). Only 3 more weeks to survive until I can reunite with my beloved team on Alpha Sapphire!

Welcome to the site. I also a last minute person to finish all my homework and etc. which got me up to college but unfortunately it gets harder. From 90 dropped down to 70 which is not good so I need to spend time on studying. Try to get by to spend time on your college because failing is not good.
