Bleh @verucassault I've watched a couple of the draw ones before. Interesting that this one is a commencement speech. The passivity breeds mediocrity is interesting. Not familiar with it.

Despair V99999999999999999 @ithurts My takeaway from the passivity breeds mediocrity is... I need to create. Like you said, I need to be more productive with my time. I have a strong urge to create. But, only so many outlets. Pessimion and depression is caused by passivity. The belief that we have the ability to do something no one has never done should be a focal point of all humans. To stick to the norm would be easy thus not challengeing the mind. Thru achieving something no one has ever done I feel we obtain a genuine sense of self love thru pride. I loved the video. Glad you found it interesting

Despair V99999999999999999 @ithurts I think most people rather form a path that is safe and within there abilities. I could see how that could lead to mediocrity, passivity, and depression. I feel it's much better to push your body and mind towards something you know will be tangibly hard. In the process you could obtain alot of personal growth and a sense of pride knowing you followed that dream and gave it all you got. Instead of watching from the sidelines.

Just going with the video concept... maybe mental illness is a sign that we haven't been challenging or mind properly thus it starts to deteriorate. Hmmm, I get that because let's says society becomes more of a listen and follow type infrastructure. Over the years the brains of the lesser people will gradually start to be more prone to listening than following. Also, it might be hard to have a original thought. But, I'm just rambling now.

Despair V99999999999999999 @ithurts I see how a listen and follow could breed passivity, mediocrity, and depression. One would have to step out of order and go against the norm. That in it's self is pretty hard for most. Especially, with everyone wanting to be loved and accepted. Standing out is a very daunting task when it puts you at odds with your fellow man. I'm reminded of the quote... To go where no man has gone before. It's a very powerful quote that speaks to me.

One was truly love themself because it's very hard to love and accept someone who is extremely different. The drive and passion must come from you to reach your goal I don't really think you have time for depression. If your truly filled with passion.

Bleh @verucassault It really is true, passivity and mediocrity. I feel like I am lazy listening to that. I struggle with being productive. Because I enjoy leisurely things too much. If you have no goal you're working towards, are you living? I feel like I had more purpose when I was in school. I think I was also smarter then than I am now. I engaged in healthy discussions or debates. People can't do that anymore unless arguing.

Despair V99999999999999999 @ithurts True, I feel you. It is extremely hard to have a open minded conversation nowadays. I feel everyone is so caught up in proving eachother wrong. It's always side vs side. You hardly ever see those side come together to reach a conclusion by trying to understand the opposing view. Anyway, I think everyone struggles with being lazy. That's were discipline comes in. I'm pretty lazy myself. But, I know what discipline looks like due to my time in the army and just pushing my limits as a athlete. It's not so easy as they make it sound in the video. Especially for people who struggle with mental illness and depression. But, understanding never hurt nothing. At least I don't think.

Despair V99999999999999999 @ithurts Nothing wrong with enjoying your leisure time. I think the problem arises if people get complacent with the activities that they do during there leisure time. Like for instance, if someone watches a video that they enjoy watching. But, immediately asks there self what am I doing with my life. Then you have to ask the question is that person truly happy. Our, are they actually just bogging down there mind. I believe there's a higher self in all of us that wants to do more. But, that goes back to passivity, depression, and for me a pessimistic view of life. If topics like these make you uncomfortable, please let me know.
