As someone that used Match.com and Plenty Of Fish, I can say it isn't only a Maiotaku thing. This site in particular isn't as regulated as some other sites because it's independently owned by one man dumping his own income into renting the server space and domain use. Only a hand full of members actually pay to use this site, so I can imagine it is a bit much to ask the owner to keep up with regular maintenance when it's more passion project than a mega conglomerate service backed by Wall Street investors and with a team of dedicated paid employees. Outside of the business implementation part, the Internet in general has always been a Wild West of user discretion and adapting on the fly. You are dealing with multiple countries using this site and not all countries have the exact same laws or expectations for appropriate behavior. Not all countries are as strict or have the exact same understanding of what's acceptable. That said, sexual orientation isn't something I can help with. That can only be decided by the individual. I will say it's best to be open with whoever you're interested in, so there isn't a misunderstanding. Also don't take it personal if other factors like distance, occupation, or disability play a role in deciding one's ability to date. Personally I have not found anyone in my area that wants to date. The only people I've met live out of state or are already married. My job also has me working 50-60 hours weekly, so I have to work around my schedule same as everyone else.
