So much to answer that forgot these two things. Japanese feel at least close to finnish in some way which is why I felt I had easier time with it than other languages. Though the writing systems was a challenge. With british and american english. I think we are taught with the british version but as we have american shows on tv, well they tend to mix. We don't dub tv shows in here unless it's for children. So all of the foreign shows are only really subbed which in a sense makes it easy for us to learn english these days.

You can post what ever you want. You made me laugh already so good job ^^. With learning languages. Well that is a bit difficult to say. We start learning other languages early on actually so we might be ok in learning other languages that we personally are interested in. Around fifth grade we choose to learn two foreign languages and around 7th grade we choose one more. I personally decided to take english as my primary and then german and swedish as minor languages. Those lasted to 9th grade. In college you need to continue a few of those but not all if you want. In college and university you also have even more options so there is a lot to choose from. Personally decided to learn japanese in university for 5 years. At the end of all this language learning my english is at the same level I feel as my finnish is. My japanese is in the level of somewhat understand and maybe I could write the hiragana and katakana but would need check a few times the letters again. With kanji I would be totally at a loss at this moment. With german and swedish I have forgotten pretty much all. Difficult to keep up when you don't use the language at all. Finnish verbal and written versions are the same though sometimes written structure can sound a stiff so we speak a more freely from it. Dialects though, those are a different thing. With pronunciation: you speak what you see. Good examples would be the letter A, E and I when compared to english.

How heavily does your culture impact your perspective on things I wonder o.o
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku Have you detected some evidences? Sharing me?My perspective on things was heavily impacted by Neo-Confucianism and Buddhism.
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku Cross-cultural communication is an intriguing topic. We can notice the conspicuous differences of ways of thinking plus values between the Chinese and the US citizens, though they are over-generalized....
burninghalo
BurningHalo @burninghalo Well there are subtle nuances in your perspectives that differ from my own. Moments that you seem to just..."think" differently. I was curious how much of that I can attribute to our own circumstances. What do you think? Do any of my words or thoughts seem fundamentally different from your own on that level?
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku Can you tell me some of those nuances? ٩( ᐛ ). I haven't noticed words/thoughts of yours that seem FUNDAMENTALLY different from mine.Generally speaking, some differences between the westerners and the Chinese I have noticed:1.Our morals are the result of balance of various social relations. Religion doesn't play an important role in the formation of Chinese morals. 2.We can discuss skincolor without misgivings, because racism has never an issue here 3.In my society, feelings>logic...
burninghalo
BurningHalo @burninghalo Well for one I've noticed that habit of you using emotional rationalization when it comes to how you make decisions. How you feel and yet you seem more collective oriented. Yoir idea of good seems to serve the all more than the one. In additiin when tou speak you are a LOT more interested in understanding opposing viewpoints before speaking on them. Certainly mire than most natives here
burninghalo
BurningHalo @burninghalo Id need ti observe you more before explaining the rest

Saw your comment and it made me want to ask the question to you. How about your country? Any interesting and positive facts? China is unfortunally talked about often times with problematic topics so it would be nice to know the good sides. One thing I know is that China is actually heavily promoting enviromentally friendly energy solutions. Even more than any other country I think.

Under the moonlight the two friends found peace within each other as they stayed by each others sides.
