Yes, this is not to be rushed or made into an extremist faction with the only motive is to push the extinction of man 1.0 to death but to be the most precise and adaptive creature we can be. As Charles Darwin said “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” We need to adapt to nature but most importantly our selves. You hit the puppy in the head when you said: "Perfection in and of itself is a paradox, and the pursuit of it, while a worthy goal, may do more harm than good." Good observation and this is what I want to see. Yes, the point is not to rush blindly and to evaluate our selves but also not to be to slow. There is a goldilocks zone that must be achieved and it must come at a cost which we must all agree. This is out if of our hands today and all we can do is except that someday man as we know it will no longer exist due to some event naturally or by our own hands as creators. As long as mankind can do this I feel that whatever path it takes it will be of no regret as it dealt with the cards it had. Think and think of not but your self but of others and most importantly what they do.
