The pros and cons seem flip flopped to me. The way I see it, is you can do more with a PC than a console. Ultimately a console is just a PC anyway, but you're locked in to what you can do with it. It's only for games. They tried giving the PS apps but does anyone really use them? A lot of the "features" they brought to gaming consoles are now pretty obsolete. You no longer have to store things like movies and music, it's much easier to stream them. It seems like you are going to fling money at something, it makes more sense to throw it to something that's more versitle than a console. Plus, if anything happens to the unit, you don't have to send it to Sony so they can soder a small piece of wire that probably should have been stronger to begin with (PS3 60 gig FATAL FLAW). And if you need to update any of the components, you just do that. It isn't something that is specialized for that particular unit. You can put something in it that's not patented or owned by Sony or Microsoft. Also, I always thought PC had stronger graphics than what the PS and Xbox could keep up with. Anyhoo. I think if the console companies made it to where you could customize them a bit more like PCs, there might be more of a draw or appeal to them. I think after all my components my build was like around $12-1400? Probably including keyboard, mouse... And I don't just use it for gaming.

Shit mine was 6k so it’s kinda hard to justify buying a console as well. When like you said it’s more versatile and has better graphics and performance.

Peoplw forget you can also browse the web on concole as well. You also have twitch, youtube, netflix and all that so the "its more than a console" thing kinda doesnt apply since console do the same. Although not as well as pc, still viable. Consoles can also be fixed like a pc can but most people are not tech savvy you can send to manufacturers and they replace part for you. Rather than using youtube or geek squad to figure out how to fix your pc. For example my laptop has a weird boot error that resulted in me not being able to load it up and there is no way for me to fix it as everything i need to replace fixed onto the motherboard so i would need to rropace it which means i kight as well get a new laptop. Also for the price of replacing parts for your pc you can honestly just buy a used console with

It is incredibly tedious to browse from a playstation.

Or just buy a broke ass pc that can browse the web. If I’m going to play a console I buy it so I can lean back in a chair and just fiddle with a tiny controller. I don’t buy a console to hook up a keyboard and mouse.
