wei_ying
Is that the goal of DnD? I don’t know much about it obviously XD, so please excuse me sksksk
audiosenpai
It's a game where you complete quests.
wei_ying
Oh, okay. Sounds like I would be confused if I tried to play it myself XD, I always wondered what playing it was actually like though. Since I have heard of it before

@wei_ying I'm about to continue playing a session as we speak. Dungeons and Dragons is a game that demands a great deal of group cooperation. If you want the best experience you're going to need at least 5 people to participate and one of the 5 needs to build the game based around a core set of rules. https://i.ani.me/0338/5316/screenshot_20220912-185321-651_2.png There are at least 3 books one needs to own to understand the systems. A player handbook, a Dungeon Master (DM) guide, and a book that lists monsters and other NPC stats as well as abilities. https://i.ani.me/0338/5316/screenshot_20220912-185321-651_2.png There are dozens of extra books that expand those core rules and each book costs $40-60 depending on the store you go to. You can also go online and download copies for free if you want to not spend money. https://i.ani.me/0338/5316/screenshot_20220912-185321-651_2.png The game changes on the group's play style and what the DM decided the world would be. https://i.ani.me/0338/5316/screenshot_20220912-185321-651_2.png The DM effectively builds the story and the other players inhabit it making up their involvement to said story on the fly. https://i.ani.me/0338/5316/screenshot_20220912-185321-651_2.png Their character's power and abilities are pre determined by the earlier books, but the rest is up to an agreement between players as to whether it fits in with the story they wish to tell. https://i.ani.me/0338/5316/screenshot_20220912-185321-651_2.png The game can in fact go on for eternity in theory, but most play until they get bored and the story ends when no one decides to show back up for DnD night.

Or.... you can have completely absurd stories like my friends and I do. Like Gabe said, it's pretty much up to the Dungeon Master to build the story. Whether it be a classic tale of swords and souls... Or... It can be a stupid quest where you fight pasta monsters, who regretti eating too much spaghetti. I killed the final boss (an evil Italian guy) with just my abs. Or it can be super epic story. Although what's more epic than death by abs?
