I played many gacha games and have quit many of them. I want to know what keeps people playing them.

I played Re: Monster before genshin impact came out and all the other gacha games. Only spent 200$ but I beat the game after Re: Monster I never felt the need to play a gacha game especially cause they cost money.
Edit: OH but I didn't answer the question I played Re: Monster because it showed art and evolutions not in the manga.

The only gacha game I play is Heartopia, and I haven't spent any cash at all on it lol. The reason I play is because it's cute for one, it's open world for two and you can customize your character how you want them to look (I love personal customization).
But, I haven't spent any real cash on anything I the game because I frankly don't care about buying anything. The game itself is just fun to play.

I gave up on those specific kinds of entertainment. Genshin Impact turned me off to the model.

If I don't feel like the first $100 is a solid investment or that there is a high risk of the game being taken away from me at any random point due to company greed or that the technology needed to sustain it does major harm to the world we live in (financially, psychologically, or environmentally) it really ain't worth the time or effort.
These days I stick to a few games that I can pay for once and play indefinitely without being restricted behind pay/time walls.

While I personally do not. My girlfriend does. She primary does Wuthering Waves, and got back into Genshin more recently.
For her it is really about the storytelling, fun gameplay, good character designs, and challenging content. For the longest time she was just primarily only doing Wuthering Waves but in recent updates she wasn't too happy about them and feels the game is more lacking, so instead she went back to Genshin Impact but decided to not really put any money back into it and just use what she had and enjoy the story content.
She stopped playing Genshin due to the gameplay not being as fun after a while, whereas Wuthering Waves ended up having more fun gameplay for her.
So to break it down, if she still enjoys playing the game, likes the new content, characters, story, combat, etc... then she will keep playing. So to answer your question, it simply is because she enjoys it, which is quite honestly the reason anyone plays any game (I hope) right? So if you like the experience of playing a game, then play it. If you stop enjoying it, stop playing it. Simple as that.
