should you bring a present on a first date?

key17
This isn't really a yes or no question. It depends on the kind of relationship you have, the kind of people you are, the date, the occasion...etc.

If you know what the person likes, something small, buy it But I don't like when people come like "hey I bought chocolate for you" and you have to act like "ah!... thanks... ^^' " because you really don't like chocolate. It's better to not fail than trying to get it right on the first date, at least I think that way

I mean depends, Are they your Girlfriend, or just a date? If it's your girlfriend. Go for it. If not, than I don't think it's the greatest idea, but nothing very detrimental either, as long as it's small. Buying tings for the sake of buying them something isn't a good thing, I know you want to show you care for them, But you're already doing that by going out with her. If someone only likes you because you buy them stuff... That's not the best kind of relationship. Sincerely though, The easiest way to get an answer for this question is this. Do you expect a gift from her? If it's a no, than It's probably the same for her. However if you're IN a relationship, that's a bit different of course.

OMG Eddy~~ Do you like her a lot? Go for it!! Do you know what kinds of stuff she like/dislike? If so, then that's what you bring to her.

out of the dozen or so first dates I've been on, never once brought a gift. I don't know, a gift on a date is just weird to me, "Hey thanks for spending time with me, here this gift" but it also depends on the person and how well you know them.

Agreed, if its someone you've only known for a few weeks I would say skip the gift, but if you've known them awhile a gift sounds sweet.

That seems like a great way to set a president and leave them expecting more from you from then on. Giving gifts to show you like them is nice and all, but I wouldn't recommend feeding or encouraging the greed and materialism of modern western women who equate love with material gain by showing with gifts right off the bat. You being there should be enough. You're not paying her to date you right? Call me crazy but giving gifts for dates doesn't feel that different. Well, that's just my two cents.
