I think what this is, is an empathy problem on behalf of meat eaters. It does not extend far enough from themselves and humans. Veganism is an active a moral choice to withhold taste and cruelty, to further the sustainability of the planet through individual food choices, it's a selfless act of conscious food consumption that takes into account the well-being of other life forms, the environment, the world we live on. There is nothing wrong with using analogies to make a coherent point! Humans have the capacity to exponentially and drastically improve and evolve, why can't this be the same for human morality and food choices?, if we know the outcome of the idea will benefit everything in its wake. Nobody is saying that humans SHOULD be morally or intellectually superior, but we can use our attributes of dominance wisely, be humble and grateful as a species for all living things. In a SURVIVAL context being selfish is necessary, however we live in a first world abundant society where even our smallest of choices in what we purchase and consume on an individual level affects the outcomes and larger picture not only in our local environment but by the global domain. We all know we can obtain sufficient and correct nutrition even without animal products so why must we continue exploiting resources, taking unnecessary life and harm the planet we live on?

Yep, we live in a world, where eating meat is the norm, so obviously we have the rightful choice to do that! But it takes a movement of selfless and principled people to actively change the world for the better, even if it means uprooting tradition and culture of the day. Factory farming is the first step! But I'm not a vegan though.

I could go on at length once again about how morality and "right and "wrong" are on the individual. I could speak more on the importance of various vitamins, anti-carcinogens, creatine, BCAA's and other fatty acids RICH in animal product. Vegans certainly can supplement these nutrients and vitamins to avoid the loss in muscle and bone density, energy, and the extra risk of colon cancer(there are health risks to being vegan) . I could speak on the VERY REAL dangers of consuming too many carbohydrates as a substitute for the calories you'd get from fat and protein. Because you are NOT getting all of your calories from vegetables. It'd likely be from carb-heavy foods. You want to talk heart disease... I could ask if the vegans among us knew just where their food was coming from and if they were worried about the sustainability of such a diet for the entire population. If they were concerned for the carbon footprint left behind by constantly flying food cross country or the economic effects of an increased demand for imports on a small/less-developed country that can't actually handle it. Many of these foods are not grown in the US and as more people become vegan, demand for it will increase and thus supply must work to match it. (Shop locally people) I could speak about the importance of grazing animals trampling land which actually helps create vegetation that feeds other species. And how when they can't consume any vegetation outside of the poisoned pesticide-ridden gain and manufactured vegetation they suffer. I could postulate on the carbon cost of ploughing lands and how it erodes the land en masse over time particularly when the demand for it would NEED to increase once we swapped to a plant based diet. Particularly when you account for the herbicides and pesticides that SLOWLY KILL the surrounding animal life while reducing their land and destroying the ecosystem. Farmers who can't make money off these animals have 0 incentive to raise them and so there are less animal dung(laugh if you want but those bacteria, dung beetles and works work wonders for restoring vegetation and helping the soil) which in turn means a more unhealthy life for the surrounding wildlife. I could even unfairly assert that a vegan world leaves little in the way of people who are allergic to soy, wheat, and other vegan food substitutes for those aforementioned vital vitamins and nutrients. but none of that is core to my choice to eat animals. I don't think about these things when I eat a steak. I don't think of myself as saving the world for what I choose to eat. I like meat. I'm not opposed to killing animals so I can eat my food. I prefer it done more humanely and that those animals be allowed to live openly and happily prior to thier end but I like mah steaks and a drumstick. Respond if you like but I won't be responding back. I didn't come here looking to argue(Just demonstrating that I have put some thought on the issue)

You all know there's vegans/vegetarians who aren't on a moral high horse right? Like I'm all for the moral argument but meat just doesn't taste good to me, even eggs and dairy to some extent make me feel sluggish and gross.

ok gonna watch some anime so gonna answer one thing first again it is not a comparison this isnt humans vs animals it is taking your logic and applying it to another instance it is an analogy to show your hypocrisy like, fine if you wanna be like this then theyr chicken nazis and chicken jews are the chicken nazis morally allowed to slay the jewish chickens if the jewish chickens are made comfortable? (see, human or animal doesnt matter, its the situation that matters)
