1. I only buy from reputable companies that work for more humane conditions. But no I am not going to lose sleep over it. No more than I'd lose sleep from a hawk eating a rabbit. animals die. People die. It sucks. I'm eating a burger. And I am well aware that eating beef is eating the muscle tissue(or tongue) of a cow. You aren't shocking me with this. 2, I want to stress that I am giving my personal reasons for not doing so. Answering a question. I'm not trying to debate the ethics. I told you already it's pointless as you've made up your mind. 3. It makes me mad to have anything boiled alive. IF you are going to eat an animal kill it first. 4. I eat foods I enjoy. To eat enough on a vegan diet I'd have to either spend most of my life eating the same basic foods over and over again or splurg for the expensive stuff. 5. I consider human lives more valuable to me than animal ones. IF I was in a burning building and saw a box of 4 baby puppies in one corner and a human baby in the other and only had time to save one, I am saving the human baby. So no, you wouldn't be but to me there is a difference. Or would you consider eating an animal as okay if it were braindead, couldn't feel pain, couldn't feel fear. And was just a living shell of muscle and organs? Only living by responding to outside stimuli? Like a plant. 6. I'd have to research the validity of vegans being on average healthier. Because as I said I tried it and most definitely was not. Also I've put more thought into this than you might think. You consider killing and eating animals cruel and morally unforgivable. I do not.

Obviously it’s more ethical to never kill any sentient organisms, but the idea that holding human beings lives in a higher regard or putting more value in them being in some way a fallacious concept is laughable. Why are human lives more valuable than animal lives? Most people simply form stronger bonds with other human beings than with animals. This isn’t really debatable, despite there being obvious exceptions. It’s a maxim of nature to hold the lives of your own species in a higher regard than those of others. Human beings are by far more intellectually advanced than any other animals on our planet. Likewise, we’re far more emotionally complex and expressive. Despite our destructive nature, which is admittedly immense, that intellect and emotional expression has allowed us to cultivate civilization, express ourselves through the arts and humanities, and make progress towards unraveling many of the mysteries surrounding our origin and the cosmos at large. Objectively, no, human beings are no more valuable than any other life on this planet or throughout the cosmos. No one really thinks objectively about morals, though. To think objectively is to essentially view things from a perspective of non-sentience. You can do that with metaphysics, epistemology, etc. That being said, if you’re going to posit empathy as a moral objective for analyzing the ethics of animal consumption, it would be equally valid in that vein to posit a moral objective on the superior value of human life.

i must add, animals are not slaughtered in painless ways! often misunderstood, but only a very small percentage have painkillers injected into them before they are killed. most animals are still just killed with a steel pen in their head. now you might think: that pierces straight through their brain so they die, right? well, no they don't, they usually suffer for a couple minutes then die, but in other cases they are still alive while they are being dismembered. other than the high air pressure metal pen gun, you have the "slit the throat open" so they just bleed to death which also takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours for them to actually die (by that time they are usually dismembered). we consume so much meat, that we don't have the money to buy painkillers for every animal we kill. reputable companies included. they might have a "better life" (which is also still bs), but they are still killed in gruesome ways. it's okay to like eating meat. no-one blames you for it.

valuing human lives over animal ones is normal because the vast amount of society thinks it's morally the correct choice. that's why we all also think so. but it's simply untrue.

Is it true then that animals lives are equally valuable? How is it untrue that human lives ARE more valuable? that’s a non-argument
