@hell_hound7 i havent been following along with the anime so tightly, but in season 2 is shows his parents are really really great people unless they're dead and it didn't show that, why wouldn't he miss them? and hes op with his death ability, and his break downs are stupid, and how he gets over those break downs is also stupid and lazy i always look to kaneki ken when it comes to broken characters, because when kaneki finally snaps he stays snapped. he calluses himself and adapts to his fucked up surroundings. subaru just cries a bunch and goes back to being the typical silly protag its lazy that's my main issue with subaru. hes insufferable. also he gets isekaied and hes like 'oh kool this is awesome uwu' when why would he?? how would he not be freaked out?? again, wakaba has a REASON on why she isn't freaked out. a REASON why she doesn't miss her parents. a REASON why shes a spider at all and a REASON why she and the other isekaied classmates have the ability to heal when they level up when the other creatures don't this shit is actually explained with wakaba there's a reason why wakaba is laid back and not freaking out over being isekaied as a fucking spider, and best yet, SHE ISNT OP SHE STRUGGLES AND FIGHTS AND IS REINCARNATED AS THE WEAKEST MONSTER wakaba was a nerd that was horribly bullied, and shes reincarnated as a weak spider, which reflects her status at school and the popular kids were reincarnated as fucking princes, which also reflects there status at school i love that fact, and the fact that, spoiler/teaser, they DO stuffer because of there status, that she ends up being better off for being a spider anyways, i plan on reading the ln for re;zero just because friends have told me its way better, and i encourage you to read the ln (or manga) for kumo desu ga nani ka

@momichi subaru is actually pretty sane. Thats the most realistic depiction of irl manic episodes? I believe it is manic but dont qoute me. You will go insane but then be fine and then insane again. Its sort of like PTSD you are fine and then you snap at a trigger and in his case its death. Death scares him, the fact he cant figure thjngs out and sees everyone die over and over scares him. They even show the affect his death has to those around him after he dies. His return by death isnt op, because it doesnt solve the problem thats why it drives him crazy. He has to figure things out despite this. His powers are explained as well. The world is stoll building per say and these most recent episodes are doijg NOTHING but explaining so yeah i can see why people would drop it. Talking simulator.

@hell_hound7 no? sanity can be chipped away at, and to show that gradual decline in sanity would be really interesting, much like how it shows kaneki gets slowly withered down by the terrible things that happen around him kaneki going shironeki was a coping mechanism, a new person that 'was a ghoul' to help with deal with that world, to adapt to it. he became a lot more ruthless BUT he still stayed kind as well, he kept his sweet nature underneath his necessary shield of a new personality subaru isn't shown to have any symptoms of ptsd, and keep in mind getting a new personality to protect yourself is a symptom. as you said, he watches everyone he loves around him die time after time and he then has to kill himself, which your body is naturally very against, would be insanely difficult on ones mind. look at homura from puella magi, another character that went though the exact same shit subaru did and was hardened because of it, ruthless because of it because she HAD to adapt to what was happening or even okari from steins gate. another dude that had to repeat and repeat and repeat his friends death and his break down was way more meaningful because in the end he doesn't chipper up and go back to his old self, he gets stabbed, prepared to die, in a final attempt to keep those he loves alive. its actually a meaningful sacrifice because there was build up to it. subaru shares nothing with these people. nothing. he has one big break down and gets back out of it and is normal subaru. 0 character development. none. hes the same subaru personality wise in beginning to end. he becomes smarter, but that's not a personality trait. homura gets character development. okari gets character development. kaneki gets a shit ton of character development. you don't go insane and then go sane and then insane again. no person does this. that's cheap to have him yoyo because 'we want the protag to be relateable' or whatever excuse. if his breakdowns don't effect anything why make him break down? isn't it just empty if nothing sticks? he sobs and cries and goes limp but we know there are no consequences to this so its meaningless, weightless also yeah him dying and going back to a saved point is absolutely op. he cant die. it has consequences because its a big tole mentally, but we're shown this mental tole never sticks to him anyways. and the ability in power is absolutely over powered, even in that universe. and it isn't a power he ever worked for. being op is fine if there's a struggle to earn it, if it feels earned but no. it was gifted (i assume randomly but i could be wrong, and i hope I'm wrong because i hate that isekai trope) and most people don't drop re;zero, its insanely popular, more so then konosuba and probz is the biggest isekai so the unpopular opinion is to dislike it, now ill say i dislike subaru, but other then that its a good anime, its creative and the fantasy aspects are really interesting i just can't stand subaru and by proxy, rem rem was forced on us so heavily it was so obvious, but thats a rant for another day

There is so much to disagree with in that post but I am just going to let it be as it is an opinion at the end of the day. XD

nah fuck that debate me bruh (in the debate thread) subaru is fucking shit, and characters like homura, kaneki, and okabe are great examples of sacrifice and character development that highlight all the shit subaru lacks
hell_hound7
Imma have to see you in debate thread. My response was getting too long

ill be waiting feel free to spoil anything with re;zero, it'll better contextualize subaru and his powers if i know everything and i don't care about spoilers for a franchise i don't care too much about

It might be a historically unpopular idea, but I don't think all the military power of the world should be monopolized by a few nations, leaving the rest of the world at their mercy. Nuclear weapons help offset that monopoly. o7

Revolution in the political sense is just a romanticized and beautiful word for coup and usurpation.

Mileena looks way better with the tarkatan teeth than what they did to her in MKX. o7
