When I saw this I thought "oh that's nice, the guy wants must want to help people out in a format that would allow others to join in and give some group support too". Then I read on and "oh this guy just wants girls to cry on his shoulder while he pretends to care."

^I yes thermodynamics. Pretty interesting topic. Took me a while to rap my head around entropy and enthalpy. Here's a fun fact that's more related to heat transfer. Think about radiator fins on cars, gpus, or other equipment that needs to dissipate heat. A rectangular fin is the most efficient shape to transfer heat. Hence why you usually see rectangular shaped fins on radiators. Pretty cool

αleph-1 @a1ephy why are rectangular ones more efficient compared to other designs? I never considered the shape had anything to do with the way heat dispersed

@swadian Whoops my bad. What I said was incorrect. I remembered incorrectly. I checked the literature real quick. Mistake on my part. It's actually parabolic and triangular fins that are the most efficient. Not rectangular fins. Forget what I said about rectangular fins. Assuming the same material for parabolic, triangular and rectangular fins. Among other things. Efficiency is correlated to area. Parabolic and triangular fins maintain more of their lateral area as they increase in length. But yes, shape does play a role in heat transfer. https://i.ani.me/0335/2925/rectangular_fins.jpg

Not the same thread but, shit. I am dying in my 20s, but instead I laugh it off and think it goes away. Light another cigarette or drink a few more shots. It's every day. I don't really have a lot of people super close to me. I don't know who to trust. I've been questioning myself, but always ignore my problems. I just don't know who to tell. I have support systems, like therapists, and stuff to help keep me away from drugs. I need people outside of that. I just don't trust anyone, and not like I've been given reason to either. Everything that tries, I brush them away...

αleph-1 @a1ephy thats interesting, that would explain why some of the AC units, the old huge ones I worked on had these weird shapes all over the place, turns out it was to dissipate heat then
