Reading this one and I'm chuckling how they are arguing funding shouldn't be cut because they need to pay utility costs. And what I say to that is audit them. Audit them all. We have the ability to see how and where every cent goes and is spent. Base next fiscal year on past fiscal year and let them apply for supplemental grants or emergency funds if necessary.
I trust academic institutions as much as I trust governing bodies.

More to my point, I care more about the outcome of these audits and less about Trump and Elon's characters.

Ultimately, is it transparency if everyday a government official says something that isn't accurate and requires the average citizen to constantly fact check the leaders' statements?
^And transparency by I actively know what's going on every day in government because they are addressing the public and telling us. He's not doing it by prompts. He's not giving written speeches. They aren't relying on his press secretary to do his heavy lifting.
Have you seen the Secretary of Defense ever address the American Public directly, not at a hearing or before the press pool?

What I picked up on from Pete Hegseth is that the military industrial complex is about to get a lot more tax payer dollars. He also emphasized putting Donald Trump's priorities first and not the average American's. One may assume that Donald's priorities align with ours, but they rarely do in the long term.
Pete Hegseth also simply waved papers in the air and said "I got the facts right here," but he didn't stop to let us read them or post a screenshot of those documents. Presumably because it's "classified information." So again, is he really telling any hard facts? He just says don't trust anyone that isn't me. That isn't a great sign in leadership to say such things.
Him repeating about redundancy is itself redundant because the man hasn't addressed other parts of the military like Veteran benefits. VA hospitals for instance are notoriously under staffed and budgeted. Yet Pete Hegseth goes on and on about military aircraft and drone spending. As if the United States really needs more missiles and aircraft carriers.
What he is proposing sounds very redundant on spending for unnecessary equipment. It is known that many private companies that are even internationally owned help provide the United States with its war economy. So more than likely people who are wealthy outside of the country will make even more money off of the US's continued investment on military spending.
Little of which helps the common soldier. They are getting left behind and used to promote other entities' personal business goals.
That being the case I was reading from various government websites debates about how the Veteran's Affairs were being managed under the Biden Administration as well and it equally had mismanagement much like with the previous administrations that came before his. I would love to see more from Trump's cabinet what specifically they can do to genuinely help the average American soldier that needs medical assistance in the face of rising privately owned pharmaceutical costs. Will Trump's fellow leaders crack down on the price hike for supplies to our wounded veterans and their families? Something in my gut says that ain't where the cash is going.

Are we talking about the video I posted or something else?
I feel like I'm missing something.
In the one I posted he is talking about the memo he issued to the branches of military to reduce their budgets by 8% annually. He then talks about what's being cut from Biden's admin and then those funds will be reallocate to already planned expenditures from the new administration.
He moves on to cover the other parts of the memo.
I doubt it's that classified.

I am talking about the video he posted. He said "lethal military" spending is going to receive the 8%. He said drones and other "lethal" equipment is going to start being mass produced to increase the United States' military economy. Pete Hegseth is talking about cutting "non-lethal" spending and only investing in what produces a lot of money which is the war economy.
The documents I provided were showing how American soldiers' benefits are dwindling while manufacturing companies tied to military arms production are expanding.
This is alarming in my opinion. It is genuinely worrying that our country needs to rely on the "lethal" side of the war economy for us to be a "great nation" again!
I also don't agree with his inference that only Pete can be trusted to let the American people know the truth. I hold him accountable for saying such things.

I know he wants to build an iron dome. That's dumb.
But I'm all for cuts that are non essential and then redistribution them where they are needed.
