αleph-1 @a1ephy I lived on three different cities where the same things happened over and over. Most popular one were Nuevo Leon state, on the year I lived on Monterrey kidnapping cases on foreigners were rampant to the point were they had to hire security. Now, nowadays cartels kidnapping business isn't as strong as it was back on 2010 but it's still a very nasty issue. My sister in law had relatives over just 4 months ago who were attempted to be kidnapped just because they looked white. Bad luck? Undoubtedly, patterns? Completely

Dyadka Yar @dyadka_yar cartels will only stop when their source of revenue stops. This has always been the debate on the war organized crime on multiple countries.

I know a thing or two about foreign affairs too. I've watched "Cry Macho" by Clint Eastwood. If I'm ever south of the border I'll invest in a fighting rooster to battle the cartels. https://api.time.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/rev-1-CRM-08780-CFr_High_Res_JPEG.jpeg?quality=85&w=958 https://preview.redd.it/1sagbha3w7c81.jpg?auto=webp&s=f8398251ba634de11cf4e9a3a9b340260bd325e2

Also, it's very easy to see who's a privileged individual and who's not a privileged individual based on the opinions regarding Mexico's security and cartels circumstances. I had an attempted car hijacking by the cartels and I'm a civilian, if you truthfully believe they don't target civilians just because then that's just wishful thinking. If that's how you truthfully feel about it, then move to Michoacán, let's see how long you survive over there ;)

Same thing here. Car dismantling gangs in Brazil are generally linked to organized crime (like PCC - Primeiro Comando da Capital). I don't know whether it's on organized crime's territory or in the favelas, but they don't tolerate petty crimes in their territories and have their own trials (over things like cheating).

Told ya Swadian, I don't go into any situation half cocked! Will see who kidnaps who when the rooster caws at noon!

But the funniest part ever is that a lot of tourists come to the brazilian favelas and are super well received by the drug dealers themselves. A cousin went to the Vidigal Favela in Rio and attended a party filled with gringos and armed men, and she said it was super chill. Before someone says otherwise: No. My cousin isn't involved with crime or their culture, she went there as a tourist.

Remember a gringo's coat may be green, but that don't mean so are their horns.
