Bravo the people who ruined their country are now out to ruin another country. I mean tbf Mexico isn't a bad place to live movies and such make it out to be a boogeyman but Mexico kinda chill. Idk the cartel shot sounds scary but it's kinda like America just stay away from sketchy people and places

Panda-kun™ @hell_hound7 sadly it's not so easy. Cartels are drawn to three things when looking up whom to kidnap. 1. White people who can't speak Spanish. 2. People with trucks or luxury vehicles. 3. People who rent luxury apartments. Guess which of the three the Americans do frequently when visiting Mexico, either as a vacations resort or as a permanent residence?

@swadian That is the issue with Mexico. The corruption of the cartels. So far I can't think of any solution aside from going full Rodrigo Duterte on them. Total chaos for a year or so, and after that some sense of normalcy should kick in.

It actually surprises me that Pandus knows more about Mexico than you do Swan. On point 1. Did you pull that one out of your ass? I have no idea where you got that from. I would love to see data where cartels are rounding up kidnapping tourist. Most of the time cartels don't target innocent civilians. Be it Mexican nationals or foreign nationals. Only people that cartels kill are usually other cartel rivals. You see, a lot of the resorts in Cancun are indirectly controlled by the cartel. Think of how Vegas used to be. Vegas used to be controlled by the mob, but it was perfectly safe to go to vegas. They make money off the tourist. If whitey gets hurt. Then whitey won't come back and spend money. If you're not involved in drugs or other nefarious activity. The cartels will usually ignore you.

Points 2 and 3 are sorta kinda true, but for rich Mexicans. Not so much for Americans. If you're well off Mexican. There's a small chance you might get kidnaped. But pretty unlikely. It really depends where you live. As weird as it sounds. Most of them haven't been kidnaped. In fact, the real estate market is booming in Baja Sur (around Cabo San Lucas) because of all the Americans buying homes. You don't see cartel just rounding up Americans left and right. Cartels are too busy killing each other. A lot of Billionaires park their giant yachts in Cabo. Again, cartels don't really mess with foreigners that have nothing to do with them.

Let me just add a lil story. I knew of some gangster cholos that came from the US to Mexico. Why did they come to Mexico? They came to rob cars. Thinking that Mexico is a completely lawless country where you can do whatever you want. Cartel found out what they were doing. Guess what happened? They kidnapped the US cholos and applied the old testament Matthew 5:30 for stealing. Cartel cut off their hands. Cartel didn't kill them. But applied their own fucked justice. You see, depending on the cartel. Some cartels ban certain activities within their territories. If you're caught doing some fuck shit that goes against the cartels rules. You will be dealt with eventually. Similar with drugs. In the state of Sinaloa. The Sinaloa cartel bans the sell of opioids in their territory. If someone is caught selling opioids to another Mexican. Well, I'll let you use your imagination. Hence, why you don't see an opioid problem in Mexico. They'll sell it to dumb Americans who want to kill themselves. But they won't sell it in their own neighborhood.
